Students in the Louisiana Tech's LGBTQ organization, Prism, sparked the idea via social media.

Their action probably doubled the mean IQ in the room.

I mentioned that to a tenured faculty member once where I worked. You would have thought I had hit him with a baseball bat 3 times upside the head he was so stunned. But, but, but I won’t have academic freedom he stuttered! I said name one time anyone in administration has uttered a word or done anything to stop you a tenured professor or any UN-TENURED instructor from saying or doing anything in the classroom. He couldn’t.

My next line was I am staff, I am not guaranteed a job for life and 99% of all the other people out there are not, people you claim to care deeply about as most liberals say they do, what makes you special? More stuttering and he walks out of my office red faced and enraged, but couldn’t answer the questions. Tenure is nothing more than job security for the incompetent.

You want to hear them really whine and cry about academic freedom? Defund something. Anything.

That’s fine with me; I’d do the same if obama spoke. The good news is that the organization was unsuccessful in trying to deny Phil Robertson an invitation to speak.

How do I know they failed? Because they walked out; that’s usually Plan B.

My wife worked in the private sector for nearly 20 yrs. and took a job at a local university as their controller. She came home ready to pull her hair out for the first year trying to explain to individuals with Masters degrees and Phd’s that no their budgets were not cut. Last year you had $10K in that budget line, you were projected to get $15K this year, but you only spent $8K the each year for the last three years, you will be getting $12K a two thousand dollar increase.

Her boss, head of finance, came in at the same time from the private sector, both just marvel at the waste and idiocy that pervades academia. To quote them to a board member, back us to the hilt and turn us loose cutting and you will have tons of money from the waste we would cut. So far they have not been turned loose-—yet. I expect heads will explode when it happens and it will the higher education gravy train can’t continue, it’s not worth the money and the students will eventually figure it out.

I’ve also seen an extended version, which is “LGBTQIA”. I have no clue what the IA stands for in that version of the sexual identity peoples.

I is usually Intersex, and A means Allies.

Pride Toronto uses the "abbreviation" LGBTTIQQ2SA: Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transsexual, Transgender, Intersex, Queer, Questioning, 2-Spirited and Allies.

No. I am not joking. This is what happens when too many grievance-mongers get upset for being "excluded." (If Toronto gets any more inclusive, they're going to have to start borrowing letters from the Cyrillic alphabet, too. Or maybe Greek would be better?)
