The grieving father of one of the six students shot dead by the 'virgin killer' in California on Friday, led a rousing call for a change in gun laws at a memorial today.
As Richard Martinez addressed a crowd of about 20,000 who gathered for the University of California Santa Barbara memorial, the crowd got to their feet and joined his chant of 'Not One More'.

However, the focus on calling for an end to gun violence is missing the mark. The focus should be on the mental condition of the young man who committed these crimes which he did with a knife, a gun and a car.
Sadly, already liberal politicians are calling for additional unconstitutional gun control. The libs never waste an opportunity.
It’s as much the media as libs. They showcase these grieving parents to reach their goal of total gun control.
The sad thing is, these people need to blame someone or something so of course they lash out. Then the slimeballs in D.C. and the media exploit their grief.
These people have no shame.
Agreed. And what about the knife that he killed his first three victims with? The boy had serious mental issues and I can’t help but think this fathers rant was arranged by a Hoolywood handler or damage control specialist to deflect the real issue.
we need nut control, not gun control.
Any activism from the families of the stabbing victims?
Any media profiles of them?
Shot by a Hollywood enabled mental patient who refused to take his meds.
That’s it.
People say and do things when they are grief-stricken that - I think- ill give them a pass.
At least for awhile anyway.
One moment his son was a young healthy happy kid - and then poof - gone.
That is an enormous blow to deal with & I’m not going to doggy pile on the guy.
So the three people he stabbed to death don’t matter?
Had his son obtained his concealed carry, he would have had more of a chance than waiting for the police and a toe-tag.
I despise how reporters chase down people at their worse moments.
As a parent and grandparent I have sympathy for this father. As a believer in individual liberty I find his comments repulsive and expect him to be the next detestable media created Cindy Sheehan.
From what I’ve gleaned from the news stories it was the entitled elite killing their own.
Major scrutiny should be placed on his parents. It is their responsibility to prepare him for an uncaring world. It is those two who failed him and society so miserably.
This guy went political from the get-go, with a canned political response.
An activist found his microphone, and possibly a new career.
Agreed. My son died in 2005. He didn't die this way and I didn't act this way, but this man is beside himself and desperate for comfort, whether it's clapping audiences or anti-gun celebrities, wherever he can find it.
That he is in public this soon after his child's death is, to me, unusual and incomprehensible. Most people whose child was just murdered are balls of mush in bed trying to escape this world, not in any way interested in interacting with anyone.
A mentally deranged person killed his child. It's too easy to blame the tool the perpetrator used. Whether it is a rope, a gun, a knife or a buttload of pills mixed with a drink, the problem is the person, not his method.
Hollywood owns this, lock stock and barrel.
Elliot Rodger may have used machetes and hammer to murder house-mates in ‘killing chamber’
Drop him off in Watts and tell him to start collecting guns.
