John Ratcliffe, Rep. Ralph Halls challenger in the Republican primary runoff, told the Washington Post today that one way to secure Americas borders is by putting undocumented immigrants in jail instead of simply removing them from the country.
Ratcliffe said that under current laws, being in the country without documentation leads only to deportation. If undocumented immigrants faced jail time, however, he said many would leave of their own accord.

Ratcliffe is correct. I sure hope he succeeds in today’s runoff—he won’t be a vote for Boehner.
It worked then, it would work now.
Ratcliffe has been declared the winner. Last I checked he had 4.4 lead.
Even more effective would be a $10,000 fine for knowingly hiring an illegal and jail time for the 2nd offense.
There would also be a lot of self deport if welfare bennies were ended.
Also good.
“self-deport”
Does this mean, leave?
The English language itself is degenerating at least as quickly as the people who are trying to use it.
Seems like title 8, section 1325 says otherwise in regard to jail time.
BUMP!
And/or jail time for those who employ them.
Especially if the jail time included working ... like cutting brush, digging holes for the border fences, etc.
or stop the FREE Food , Housing and Cash
E-Verify is the most powerful self-deportation method by far but isn’t used.
Or they couldn’t get a job or they couldn’t receive welfare or food stamps or medical or anything a US citizen can receive.

Actually, English is a vibrant language that adds new words as needed. And “self-deportation” means far more than just simply illegals leaving on their own initiative. Self-deportation comes about when the situation in the host country is made so unbearable for illegal aliens (can’t get benefits, education, jobs, etc.) that they voluntarily flee the now unfriendly host country.
Of course the Chamber of Commerce hates the concept and will fight tooth and nail any attempts to implement it.
Bingo. Jail and fine a few of the Chamber of Commerce bastards into penury and we might see things take a positive turn. I would go further: $10,000 per knowing hire, but $5,000.00 per negligent hire (the cases where the employer should have known had he exercised due diligence in hiring practices). In addition to 1 year and a day in jail for the second offense, I would require state authorities to administratively dissolve any legal business entity in question, with all assets including IP auctioned off to pay the bondholders and shareholders. Also would want an exception specifically piercing the corporate veil to allow any damaged investors to seek recovery from directors and officers personally. We need to deport the illegals, but we need to punish those who hire them.
Bingo!!!
The Reps. Won’t push it for fear of losing money from the Chamber of Amnesty
