The Internal Revenue Service ruled it will impose a tax penalty on employers of up to $36,500 per worker for dumping employees into the Obamacare exchanges. The New York Times, which broke the story, reports: When employers provide coverage, their contributions, averaging more than $5,000 a year per employee, are not counted as taxable income to workers. But the Internal Revenue Service said employers could not meet their obligations under the health care law by simply reimbursing employees for some or all of their premium costs. The IRS ruling is an effort by the Obama administration to stop employers with 50 or

Every company on the edge of 50 will either fire or not hire to get below that number.

“Benefits” has become a monster. Gone are the days that one’s doctor (1) charged $20 for a one-hour visit, and (2) had nothing to do with one’s employment. Today the market is distorted in multiple ways, and taxes such as this one amount to a bandaid upon a bandaid upon a bandaid on gangrene.

Yet the US Government (Employer) can pay for a portion of the Obamacare costs for their employees (Congressmen and such). This is ok with the IRS?

Now an employee becomes a liability. You won't get dumped on an Obamacare exchange. You will just get dumped. Especially if you don't represent a good revenue stream for the company vs your salary/wage expense.

Distorted doesn't begin to cover it. I've paid off my mortgage, but I still have to put aside $300/month to cover property taxes. I have to put out $492 every two weeks for health insurance...whether I use it or not. I still have a $9,000 deductible to meet before that nearly $13,000 pays squat. That is my employer sponsored plan. I can't imagine how bad it would be if I had any vain thoughts of retirement. The bastards would put a lien on my property to pay for other people's health care.

which is why tea partiers, who discovered all of this by many of us actually reading the bill before anyone else did, worked so hard to put the GOP in a position to stop it.

How about 800 a month for prodperity tax that goes up ten percent a year and over a grand a month for worthless health insurance?
Welcome to Texas. No state income tax though. Yeah.
Yes. We’re screwed. Welfare pays better than work and has better benefits and is more secure.

But...but...that's not in the law. The IRS / Regime can't just impose taxes or penalties not passed by Congress.
Oh, silly me...we don't live in a Constitutional Republic anymore.
Employers will just drop below the 50 mark or not provide insurance and not reimburse employees the cost.

the headline is misleading.
employers have these options.
dump employee coverage,
and pay a $2000 a year fine
....................................
above, but give more $$ to employee so employee can join Obamacare...
pay a $2000 a year fine, the added $$ is treated as ordinary wages.
...................
pay for employee’s Obamacare with pre-tax money,
and pay a $100 A DAY fine (36500)
....
