On May 24, the family of Santa Barbara shooting suspect Elliot Rodger released a statement through their attorney saying they are "against guns" and support gun control.
On May 23, their son allegedly shot and killed 7 people, including himself, and wounded 7 others. Breitbart News reported his motive was "retribution" for women who had rejected his advances.

However, before you start disarming America; maybe parents should start with their own children. He had THREE (3) legal guns .. why wasn’t he stopped from purchasing guns when the parents knew he was unstable ..??
When are parents going to be willing to admit there is something wrong with their own child ..??, and seek help for them. They obviously had finances .. more than enough to provide him with the care he needed.
I’m sorry, but the parents need to take responsibility for the deaths of all these young people at the hands of their son.
I do not understand why the family reported him for being unbalanced but did not separate him from his gun.
The notion that we all get separated from our 2nd amendment rights to sooth the families troubled brow is disturbing.
I do feel their pain and sorrow.

I do not know the family’s history or the shooters history, all I know is the family were distressed by his attitude and asked for help to stop this from unfolding.
They are under duress at the moment, but new gun control laws are not the answer.

I’ll just bet there was a recent exercise for UCSB or SBPD and an active shooter scenario. Always seems to precede one of these anti-gun rants. I’m detecting a pattern here.
The problem is the where they are placing the blame. The implication is that the guns were at fault as well as his mental illness.
Whether or not his parents tried to help their son, I do not know. One thing is for certain; their son owned three guns, appeared to have a psychological problem, had never been kissed, was a virgin, and expressed hatred toward women. He killed and injured innocent people today using his guns, a knife/knives, his own car, and committed suicide.
My condolences to all of the victims and their families.

While the parents, the father in particular, get to work on his next shoot ‘em up movie that I wouldn’t go to if you paid me.
LOCK UP THE CRIMINALLY INSANE. THE MEDICATIONS MAY MAKE THEM “PASS” FOR NORMAL BUT THEY ARE STILL NOT LEGALLY HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR THEIR ACTIONS. THEY REQUIRE A LEGAL GUARDIAN KEEPING TABS ON THEM AT ALL TIMES.
STOP MAKING EXCUSES FOR THEM. THE GUNS ARE ONLY A TOOL. THEY ALSO KILL USING CARS, POISONED PILL BOTTLES, KNIVES, ETC.
