On May 20 a gun rights advocate who made a name for himself by interrupting Mark Kelly's gun control speech before the Oregon legislature won the GOP primary to run for the Oregon legislature.
The gun rights advocate, Casey Runyan, "interrupted a hearing where Kelly, the husband of former Arizona Congresswoman Gabby Giffords, testified in support of [expanded background checks]."
The expanded background checks never reached a floor vote and now Runyan is running for Congress. According to Oregonlive.com, Runyan won the primary by 14 votes. Narrowly beating out Jason Payne, "the Coos County Republican Chairman." The margin of victory is large enough to avoid a recount.
This means Runyan will run against "first-term Rep. Caddy McKeown (D-Coos Bay)" in November.

America doesn't need these idiots and their knee-jerk politics.
> if gabby giffords had been hit by a truck, would her husband be running around the country calling for background checks for everyone wanting to buy a dodge ram ?
America doesn’t need these idiots and their knee-jerk politics.
Amen x 10
Just as all weather events (hurricanes, tornadoes, snow, rain, drought, blizzards, cold spells, heat waves, sunrise, and eclipses) worldwide are blamed on global warming, all violent acts are used as excuses for proposed laws that violate the Second Amendment. The story is already written, with the exception of two or three phrases to be inserted as an excuse for rerunning the far left’s favorite story.
If that were the case, he’d want both. No way is he gonna let up on the call for more gun laws. It’s in a commie’s DNA.
Congrats to this guy! Wishing best luck to win! We need more Patriots in office!
Awesome!
Thank You Lord, for true patriots!
I'd be all for that!
I live near a Chrysler town and every 5th vehicle is a Ram. And most of them drive like idiots

Is there a video of the interruption? I’d love to see it.
this isn’t the interruption, but its an excellent video of runyan speaking.

found the video you wanted to see.
Thanks. One of the good guys.
if this happened, and mark woulda went in to the dodge dealer to buy a ramtruck, when confronted would hehave said he was buying it to turn in tothe sheriff’s department to get it off the street?
Glad to see a pro-gun guy win. But a 14 vote margin avoids a recount? How many people voted? Immediate families?

Vote margin is not close enough for auto recount
May 22, 2014 10:04 am
COQUILLE A margin of 0.3 percent separates the two Republican challengers . . .
Under Oregon law, automatic recounts only occur when the margin between candidates is less than one-fifth of 1 percent of the total votes cast for the two candidates 0.2 percent.
Final unofficial results Tuesday night have Marine Corps veteran and gun-rights activist Casey Runyan leading Coos Bay resident Jason Payne with 50.18 percent of the voters.

House District 9 race still a toss-up
May 21, 2014 7:15 am By Chelsea Davis, The World
State Rep., 9th District (R)
Candidates Votes Pct
Casey Runyan REP 1,957 50.18%
Jason Payne REP 1,943 49.82%
3,900 voted in the primary.
Dem Caddy McKweon won the 2012 election 14,906 to the republican 11,639 in an open seat. Not knowing the dynamcis of the race, it would be impossible to say how vulnerable she is. It appears most of the district is in Coos County which Romney won 14K to 12K (district may not cover all of the county). Her district also covers parts of three other counties. Romney won one of them and Obama took the other two with almost twice the total in the last where McKeown won 320 to 148 (essentially matching Obamas spread).
To say the pro-gun guy won could be a misnomer since I could not find any information from before the election on the views of the candidates. Just because the other candidate did not seek that constituency out does not mean he is not pro-gun. One of the articles noted that Jason Payne did not file a finance report so he may have not spent any money. Casey appears to have raised and spent very little.
Whoa! .2%! How can the dems steal elections with that kind of law? Heads must roll!
