A judge on Friday ordered U.S. Rep. John Conyers' name placed on the August primary ballot, trumping Michigan election officials who said the Democrat was ineligible because of nominating petition problems.
The ruling by U.S. District Judge Matthew Leitman capped a turbulent day of law and politics and appeared to diminish the possibility that Conyers No. 2 in seniority in the House might have to mount a write-in campaign to keep his 50-year congressional career alive.

1. guess if they’d rule this way for a republican.
2. why didn’t conyers ever bitch about this law the other 24 times he’s ran for office?’ didn’t seem too hard to meet the requirements the last 48 years.
I hope this illegal decision will be appealed. I wonder how much it takes to buy off a judge.
yup, no kidding he’d have won as a write-in. democrat voters couldn’t have voted straight ticket and that woulda cost him. but he still could have won w/out a pussy judge’s ruling.
Apparently yes it will. Wonder how long that will take and if he can be removed after the primary or even fall election ?
I suppose that the same judge will also rule that it’s not necessary for anyone to vote for him to win either. Why let little things like law get in the way?
Reportedly, Leitman based his decision on Bogaert v. Land. Rose Bogaert had been circulating a petition for a recall election against Democrat Andy Dillon, the Speaker of the Michigan House. Secretary of State Land had disqualified signatures because they were not gathered by residents of Dillon's district.
The Michigan law was found unconstitutional by US District Judge Robert Holmes Bell, a Reagan appointee, and subsequently by the US Court of Appeals for the Sixth District.
Bogaert is known for supporting a smaller government. She has said, The state needs to have its wings clipped. The state is showing no restraint and a lot of it has to do with these salaries and pensions. While people in public sector jobs are gaining, those losing jobs are in the private sector and they're the ones expected to pick up the bill.
I’m beginning to f***ing hate federal judges.
“Your Honor, you are a scumbag and a black-robed piece of crap!”
Because the law is for white people.
Pretty much.
LOL that’s about it.
I see the liberal defense of this behavior is being developed. They’re claiming that the law requiring that legal registered voters collecting signatures was struck down as unconstitutional. I’ve asked for info on case files and date but so far they don’t seem able to provide it.
Besides, you can’t tell me that a fugitive collecting signatures is legal. Back in 08 we had a parole absconder in the county jail after he was arrested working for ACORN registering fake voters.
Why do we have any rules anymore..
Just another reaffirmation of the fact that the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr...is dead.
“Wow! We really are a banana republic!”
Yup.
The needed response by the state of Michigan is disqualify all the bogus signatures and to arrest and prosecute anyone who collected the phony signatures and charge them with election fraud.
Damn! Who could have seen that coming!! < /S >
What happened to the idea of precedence?

NO rule of law left in this country. NONE. Why should citizens obey their stupid laws, if the judges and politicians won’t?
Time for the States to start asserting their constitutional rights and powers by telling these “judges” where to stuff their robes and gavels.
