A judge ordered a man who admitted to raping about 40 women during an 11-year period to be released to the Southern California community of Palmdale.
Christopher Evans Hubbart, 63, will be released on or before July 7, according to the Los Angeles County District Attorney's office. A news conference was scheduled for 1 p.m.
Hubbart, who has been in the custody of Department of State Hospitals since he was designated a sexually violent predator in 1996, will be monitored by the Liberty Conditional Release Program. He must wear a GPS ankle monitor.
He also will be transported to individual therapy sessions twice per week. He will be accompanied by a Liberty supervisor -- the program contracts with the state to place and supervise sexually violent criminals -- when he goes out in public for the first six months to a year, according to terms of his release.

Just ask the psychiatrists to spend a week in the same cell with him.
It's only the female psychiatrists who would be at risk. But, I know what you mean--this, or have them in the halfway house next door, should be a standard test for release.
Hey after even a year in prison I am sure a nice softhanded metrosexual male psychiatrist would look might good to this guy.
No, but before he unceremoniously dumped her, at Clint's insistence Sandra did abort two of his babies.
She's kinda cute, in a "I'm a high-maintenance hippy" kind of way.
Just back from doing a search. Yeah, sad. She aborted two of his kids.
Not only that, he made her get a tubal ligation because he didn’t want children, but then fathered to children on the side at the same time.
My respect for him is slowly dimming.
Didn't know this until reading your post. I'm a big fan of his work, but really will never be able to look at the man in the same light again.
horribly written article.
“He admitted to raping about two dozen women in Los Angeles County. Hubbart was released to the Bay Area in 1979, where he attacked 15 more women, which is why this week’s proceedings regarding his release were conducted in Santa Clara County.”
So they tried this once before and he raped dozens more after getting out? This paragraph is all thats said about the prior history. Its just dumped in there. This judge is nuts.
Your tax dollars at work. Why does this make more sense that just shooting the guy?
Clearly they think he’s still dangerous, unreformed, otherwise why the therapy?
And if he rapes again? Then what?
“...but really will never be able to look at the man in the same light again.”
Sadly agreed. I probably heard that years ago but didn’t remember it.
Any man (esp. a rich one for heaven’s sake!) who tells a woman to abort his child is a bum.
Just heard on the radio that authorities believe he raped 100 women.
Next time he may decide to kill his victim, rather than return to prison.
Faith in the state legislature and the courts to protect the citizens of this state..., ZERO!
His insistence? He can shove his insistence. In the end SHE made the choice to do it. He certainly couldn't have forced her. She wanted the lifestyle and she made her decision. As much as a cad Eastwood appears to be, I lay this all at her feet.
Put him right next door to the judge or parole board members who are settin him free!
I think shooting him on sight would be appropriate. His mere presence would put any woman in fear for her life or serious bodily injury.
Oh and there’s this from the article:
“Hubbart was released to the Bay Area in 1979, where he attacked 15 more women, which is why this week’s proceedings regarding his release were conducted in Santa Clara County.”
