Russia criticized Prince Charles' reported comparison of President Vladimir Putin to Adolf Hitler and protested the matter Thursday in a face-to-face meeting with British officials.
Charles, the eldest son of Queen Elizabeth II, reportedly compared Hitler's 1939 invasion of Poland with Russia's annexation of Crimea in a private conversation during his trip to Canada earlier this week.

If you take a good look at that idiot Charles, it is clear why the West is declining.
Can’t take a good joke over there. They need to lighten up. Take a vacation.
There, fixed it.
It used to be very bad manners to repeat anything that was said in a private conversation.
I am not taking sides between these two fools
Activity grinds to a halt as the world tries to figure out if it dislikes Putin and the Russians or Prince Charles and the English more ...
Yeah, just shows you how incredibly stupid Charles is. Putin is probably mad that Chuck compared him to Hitler instead of Putin’s hero Stalin.
Hopefully when the queen cacks it, they will set her adrift on a burning Viking barge, with Charles tied up in the hold.
Lighten up Vladyyyy
It’s a good thing he didn’t compare putin to obama, we would be a war right now.
Charles should retract that—Putin hasn’t invaded Ukraine—YET—and Criema was always full of Russians—it went to Ukraine almost as a mistake. Now if Putin does invade—then Charlie will be right. If Putin was like Hitler—Kiev would be under Russian Control right now.
It made me actually like Charles a bit more.
She was probably horsey looking.
What do you mean full of Russians? It was part of Ukraine, and Russia had guaranteed its territorial integrity, and Russia did invade and annexed the Crimea. There are parts of other countries full of other people, Like Jammu and Kashmir, which was created almost by mistake. Does it give Pakistan the right to invade and annex J&K? This is a huge can of worms you are talking about.
Putin himself declared that he sent his troops into Crimea. So if anything, he should find the Hitler comparison flattering.
Hitler and Putin - May 21, 2014Both bear furious historical grievances. Hitler wanted to avenge the Versailles Treaty, which punished Germany for its defeat in World War I. Putin believes the West exploited Russias weakness after the fall of the Soviet Union in 1991.
In truth, the collapse of communism was a liberation for the Russians, who suffered grievously under Soviet rule. But Putin calls it the geopolitical catastrophe of the last century.
Both leaders stoke and exploit paranoia. Hitler blamed Jewish bankers for Germanys woes. Anti-Westernism is the fuel that fires support for the Putin regime.
Just as the League of Nations the forerunner to the United Nations failed to contain Hitler and his Italian fascist ally Benito Mussolini, Putin plays divide and rule with Nato and the EU by striking backroom deals with greedy and short-sighted national leaders.
Just as Hitlers Germany was an expansionist power, so is Putins Russia. In 1938, as Hitler began to mobilise his forces for a devastating war, he forced Czechoslovakia to give up the German-speaking region of Sudetenland, inhabited by hundreds of thousands of German-speakers, leaving the remnants of Czechoslovakia ripe for takeover. The Nazis invaded a year later.
In a similar vein, Putin has already seized Crimea, and now sponsors separatists in eastern and southern Ukraine to stoke the flames of revolution against the government in Kiev.
Aggressive Russian interference risks making Ukraine which is trying to hold a presidential election on Sunday a failed state. Both Hitler and Putin base their thinking on race, and used race-based grievances to whip up a nationalist frenzy at home.
Hitler wanted to unite the Volksgenossen (racial comrades) of German-speaking Europe into the Third Reich. For his part, Putin wants to unite sootechestvenniki (compatriots) into a new Russian world.
To both men, other countries rights or interests are irrelevant. Putin thinks Ukraine is a territory, not a state. Hitler believed that Czechoslovakia and Poland had no right to exist which is why he ordered his tanks to smash their way across them.
To be sure, a neutered Germany and Germans stranded abroad by the Versailles Treaty had grievances aplenty, just as do Russians who woke up in 1991 after the collapse of the Soviet Union to find they were effectively living abroad in newly independent nation states. But that is what happens when empires collapse.
Resolving ethnic grievances by changing borders and breaking up countries led to disaster in the Thirties. It risks World War III now.
Throw in Abhasia and Southern Ossetia, and Transnistriya for good measure. Good analysis.
