A lot of energy is being expended by the NRSC and the various sociopaths it employs to drag septuagenarian Thad Cochran across the finish line in his primary battle with state senator Chris McDaniel. The latest contretemps is hard for the average citizen to fathom. Apparently there was a slow motion illegal entry by a blogger into a nursing home that houses Mrs. Thad Cochran. One that Thad Cochrans campaign knew about at least two weeks in advance. You might be surprised to learn his wife is confined to a nursing home. Because if you Google Thad Cochran + wife you will find the image at the top of this story.
That woman is not Mrs. Thad Cochran.
That woman is his executive assistant (translation: a government employee on Thad Cochrans office payroll) named Kay Webber.
She also happens to be Senator Cochrans landlord. He lives in the basement of her house. That house is valued at nearly $1.7 million. More via Breitbart:
Sen. Thad Cochran (R-MS) lives in the basement apartment in a house owned by his executive assistant, Kay Webber, which he has listed as his primary address on official forms. Now public records show Webber accompanied Cochran on dozens of taxpayer-funded trips overseas.
According to the Congressional Record, where trip details including cost are listed, Webber has traveled with Cochran at taxpayer expense to 42 countries across five continents since 2002.
For example, Cochran and Webber traveled eight times to France, five times to Italy, four times to Israel, and twice to Japan.

A true douchebag among douchebags.
is it true that cochran has early-onset dementia, and that’s why haley barbour won’t let him debate mcdaniel?
Clearly a guy who needs to spend more time with his family.
I doubt they win back the Senate. In really close races a lot of conservatives, myself included, will see no reason to vote if the choice is between a GOPe candidate and a Rat.
especially a GOPe who trashed the TEA Party
I voted in every primary and election since Ford vs. Carter. I held my nose for a lot of these guys but figured I had to try and keep judges conservative and often our guy was the lesser of 2 evils. After Sen. Cruz & Lee fought to stop obamacare and were not only ridiculed for their efforts, but Pubs voted to exempt themselves and their staffs from being under obamacare, I said enough.
I will not vote for them. I will give money to conservatives and I will vote for conservatives.
I expect we can see some of the defenders of the corrupt Thad Cochran make their appearance to cast aspersions on Chris McDaniel. Some of these Cochran defenders have been so over the top that I suspect some of them may be either directly on the Cochran campaign payroll or are benefiting from the federal taxpayers’ money that Cochran is making sure is directed to his friends.
BUMP
I agree.
McDaniel would have to be pretty crappy to be worse than Cochran. That guy is on the wrong side of the aisle! Even a GOPe shouldn’t be in the party if he’s that much of a scandal waiting to happen, although that does give McDaniel some good ammo.
Am I understanding correctly that Cochran’s team knew ahead of time that the blogger was going to photo the wife?
The adulterer claims he lives in a basement apartment of his executive assistant’s $1.7M mansion. Riiight...and pigs can fly and Michelle Obama is *not* a man.
“...Am I understanding correctly that Cochrans team knew ahead of time that the blogger was going to photo the wife?”

I don’t know the answer to that, possibly—but I doubt they knew in advance.
What I do know is that the Cochran campaign and its allies knew about the photo WEEKS before they finally notified the police. That intentional delay until near the end of the campaign is a classic DimocRAT tactic (something the NRSC, the Cochran campaign and their allies have learned well from their more senior progressive partners).
If the GOPe wins this primary for their (now) puppet Cochran, Cochran will be doing their absolute bidding until the year 2021—and not be voting his conservative constituents’ interests.
I don’t give a damn about his the state of his marriage with his invalid (Alzheimer’s) wife. Judging an old man in his unfortunate situation for seeking other female companionship is a needless distraction from the real issues of the campaign. It may even create sympathy for him.
What’s important is his sub-par voting record, long history of pork barreling and the low level corruption that often comes with service as lengthy as his.
Those are the reasons to elect Chris McDaniel.
Putting your mistress on the payroll and flying her around at taxpayer expense is more than just seeking female companionship. It should be a crime.
It’s probably the other way around, ie he began a relationship with his staffer, rather than making a previous mistress a staffer.
If it’s the latter and that can be proven, that might be an effective issue. Calling him adulterous scum for cheating on a wife that doesn’t remember him anymore won’t help though, at least I don’t think so.
I think that Cochran’s personal behavior is fair game, since he “opened the door” when he accused McDaniel of being involved in the “break-in” of his wife’s hospice. While not everyone whose wife suffers from Alzheimer’s will remain as loyal as James Garner’s character in The Notebook, Cochran’s behavior is unseemly. And either Cochran pays his executive assistants better than anyone in Washington, or that $1.7 million home in DC was bought by Cochran in his mistress’s name (or maybe his mistress is independently wealthy and owns the home for real, in which case it would make it far likelier that she was his mistress first and took on the executive-assistant position so as to be able to travel with Cochran without raising suspicion, all at taxpayer expense).
I forgot to add, given that Cochran’s campaign knew about the identity of the guy who broke in something like two weeks before it reported the crime to the police and went public with it, I suspect that the campaign initially wanted to keep it quiet because it was aware that the facts of Cochran’s treatment of his wife would hurt Cochran in the primary, but decided to bite the bullet and go public when its internal polling showed McDaniel pulling ahead and the campaign needed a potential game-changer.
I hope it balances out in our favor, when I heard a “tea party leader” (what a dipstick, you can make the mistress allegations without a picture of the wife) was involved, that worried me. I thought Cochrane will blame McDaniel, call it dirty pool, and gain sympathy.
It’s the deep south so maybe it will help.
I think that Chris McDaniel’s inept response to the blogger in the nursing home calls into question his abilities as a candidate. As for this charge, we should leave it alone. It can only backfire.
I still wish that Thad Cochran had retired.
