The Vaticans Secretary of State made a dramatic revelation ahead of Pope Franciss visit to Israel next Sunday and Monday, declaring that the pope will talk about the Palestinian peoples right to have a homeland, sovereign and independent.
Cardinal Pietro Parolin holds a role in the Vatican City State, located in the Italian capital of Rome, equivalent to that of a prime minister.
When asked what the pope particularly intends to talk about during the visit, Parolin revealed he would talk about on the one hand, Israels right to exist in peace and security within internationally recognized boundaries. On the other side, the pope would talk about the Palestinian peoples right to have a homeland, sovereign and independent, the right to move around freely, the right to live in dignity, according to Parolin.
In fact, the Vatican recognized the State of Palestine in 2012 amid the United Nations (UN) vote to confer Palestine non-member observer state status, a status until then only held by the Vatican.

A prophecy right out of the Good Book.
We all know what happens to those who mess with God’s land for His people. Sooner or later it will be painful.
Frankie is literally giving God the finger.
This is just legalistic nonsense. Whatever you call them, the Arab population of the former UN mandate known as Palestine have the same right to self-determination as the Jewish population. It is ofter forgotten that this was one of the points of the UN partition plan. Either Israel should annex the area and grant full and equal citizenship (with no distinction between Jews and non-Jews) to its inhabitants or let the Arabs form their own state. You pick.
The Arabs could always form their own state in the current territories, the issue is they want Jerusalem.
Annexing and granting them citizenship is suicide
The “right to self-determination” that the Arabs of that area have been exercising since 1947 is the utter destruction of the Jewish state and having an Islamic state “from the river to the sea”. Are you advocating that too? It seems that you don’t understand what’s going on therethe Arabs rejected the “partition plan” and continue to reject it to this day, desiring all of the land in question.
They only want it because Abraham was promised all of it for HIS DESCENDENTS..the Israelites, FOREVER!
No, that’s not the sole issue. They want not only all of Jerusalem, but the entire land “from the river (Jordan) to the (Mediterranean) Sea”.
Gingerbread wrote... "There were never a PALESTINIAN PEOPLE. This was created out of whole cloth by the ARAB LEAGUE, after the Israeli victory in the 1967 war.
Lets look at this with eyes wide open, shall we?
Before the Israeli victory in the 1967 war, there was the GAZA STRIP (belonging to Egypt, that means every one living in the GAZA strip were EGYPTIANS, Not PALESTINIANS).
The West Bank (belonged to Jordan, that means that every one living there were JORDANIANS, Not PALESTINIANS)
And there was the GOLAN HEIGHTS(belonging to SYRIA, that means that every one living there were SYRIANS not PALESTINIANS).
Every one of these people in Europe and the United States that now claim that there has to be a PALESTINIAN STATE is either sucking up to the MUSLIMS or they are completely ignorant of history"
Or BOTH! I am sick of hearing the incessant whining about the poor "Palestinians". In fact they are a complete fraud just like gore-bull warming.

The eastern half of the city still has an Arab population. But the issue is more than just Jerusalem. There is the question of the settlements that Israel wants to keep and would break up any contiguous Arab territory, Israel also wants to maintain underground water rights, and the Jordan Valley. The latter would deprive the Arab state from having a non-Israeli international border. On the Palestinian side there is their refusal to give up on the return of the refugees.
Annexing and granting them citizenship is suicide
As a Jewish state, granted. Either choice is unpalatable. The problem started with unrealistic expectations of the founders of Israel. At the time of the partition the Jews only comprised around 30% of the population yet were to be given half of the land. They ended up with 70% of the land after independence. Additionally, the partition was imposed on the Arabs without negotiations and without their consent. Thus conflict was inevitable. While am truly not any fan of the Arabs, there can be no peace until the Jews recognize that the Arab population of the territory have the same rights as they do. Israel needs to face the reality and make some hard choices. I do not envy them and of the two choices, annexation or partition, I do not know which is better.
G_d is so big, so awesome, so timeless...yet he still gave us prophecy through His word to help us along the journey.
Love’n my G_d.
No, the “settlement” issue is a canard blown out of proportion by anti-Israel leftists.
There are no “unrealistic expectations” for Israel. There is a pervading antisemitic spirit, especially out of Europe, that does not want the Jews to have Israel as its own.
Excuse me I didn’t know the pope was a prophet!
I didn’t say or infer that he was.
Malachy is the prophet I was speaking of.
I apologize, the Cuz reference was the pope! Not you! It’s my fault for not removing your handle from the post!

It ain't gonna happen!
Now there's a novel concept - go with the land divided as God proclaimed it!
Even without the refugees, the Arabs are still between 40-50% of the population of geographical Israel/Palestine. This fact will not go away because it is inconvenient to the dreams of a Jewish homeland. Even in Israel proper they are 20% of the population. They need to be treated with the same dignity that the Jews demand for themselves.
What do you mean by “the same dignity”? They have the stated goal of destroying Israel, which has been the same since Israel was founded. Sounds like you are against Israel. What dignity do genocidalists display, never mind deserve?
There was nowhere near that number of Arabs in that area back in 1947. Arafat had outbreeding Israelis as one of his goals. Meanwhile, the left gets away with portraying Israel as trying to “exterminate ‘Palestinians’” when the population of “Palestinians” keeps growing.
