I recall one year, the media and the show's producers had anointed the FLAMBOYANT Adam Lambert as the winner....but the voters didn't pick him. The sadness in the press was palpable.
Same here....a fat white guy wins, you can just tell it isn't their cup of tea.
Remember when that other straight white man, Clay Aiken, almost won.
Kiss?!
I thought they were all dead by now.
I actually really enjoyed this season, although my personal favorite only came in 3rd.
I thought the talent was unusually good this year, and it really came down to more of which music genre you preferred than the talent of the particular artists.
Call me crazy, but I thought Paula Abdul was important to the show. In spite of her occasional irrational unhinged battiness, she seemed to bring out the best in the singers. She could go overboard with the praise, sure, but did a pretty good job edging talent forward, and recognizing potential.
And who beat Adam Lambert? A married Christian who leads worship at his church. That was a good one.
Sorry, Nicki Minaj was the end of me ever watching that show for even a minute.
The wife unit had American Idle on so I did my usual and gave the dogs a bath and cleaned the bathroom. Watching any of those type shows would make me go postal.
The meatloaf guy won?
I remember American Idol.
He deserved to win. I am not a rocker but even I know how good he is.
WOW ! I did not know there were any Straight White Men in the Entertainment business
The Voice is a better show in just about every way imaginable. All the coaches are positive, and do their best to bring out the best in the contestants. The top 10 were all really excellent musicians. I think the final results of the top 3 were about right. The fellow who won was incredibly talented on many levels. Usher did a good job ‘coaching’ him, but he had a heck of a lot to work with. Seeing Usher for a couple of seasons has really made me respect him and his abilities. Still don’t particularly care for his musical style, but there is no doubt that he knows what he’s doing.
