NC Restaurant With "No Weapons" Sign Robbed at Gunpoint
Townhall ^ | May 21, 2014 | Christine Rousselle

North Carolina restaurant The Pit was robbed at gunpoint on Sunday. Normally, local crime stories like this wouldn't merit a Townhall post, but this one is different: The Pit has a "no weapons" sign displayed prominently on its door declaring the restaurant a gun-free zone, and bans patrons from carrying concealed weapons.

Authorities said just before 9 p.m. Sunday, three men wearing hoodies entered the restaurant through the back doors with pistols, and forced several staff members to lie on the floor.

The bandits assaulted two employees during the crime, but they were not seriously injured.

What groups like Everytown for Gun Safety or Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America seem to have an issue grasping is that criminals have no respect for the law by nature of being criminals. Criminals aren't going to be stopped by a "no guns allowed" sign.

A great post on one of the websites about this story: “I always carry a ‘No Ants” sign when I have a picnic.”

I don’t laugh out loud at posts too often, but I almost did on this one.

Employees that were injured should sue the owner for providing an unsafe workplace.

I have no sympathy for the owner (or whoever made the decision to advertise it) for such a stupid move. Let’s see how long he stays in business.

BTW, what is the penalty for ignoring such signs? Or is it just another Liberal touchy-feely thing.

Clearly, the restaurant needs to make the No Guns sign bigger.

“...three men wearing hoodies...”

Wearing hoodies in honor of Trayvon Martin?

Should have made the sign bigger. Also, exclamation points!

Could show this to the Moms Demanding Action (or whatever their name is), but they’ll probably just claim it was a bunch of Second Amendment supporters trying to make a point. They’re that dumb.

Didn’t the robber understand it was a gun-free zone?

NC Restaurant With "No Weapons" Sign Robbed at Gunpoint

The "let's put up a sign" mentality has just received a paying lesson.

It is ‘theyt’ who benefit from the possibility that a place will have armed folks within ... all you need do to prove this is the strategy of the ‘no guns allowed’ is to offer the fools a sign stating ‘no guns allowed herein’. If they refuse to display the sign they are showing that they don’t want criminals to know if they are armed or not, proving that they use the second amendment in a dishonest/whoring way.

On the other hand if I see a ‘gun free zone’ type sign I don’t go in - either do a lot of other conservatives. Most of us have no desire to sit in a target rich zone. If some guy goes in to shoot up the place he’s likely to hit a lot of democrats...

Ah so. I had been wracking my brain, trying to figure out how this could happen. You just enlightened me. Now I know why these guys brought guns into a gun free zone. They didn't see the sign. Silly me. I should have been able to figure that out all by my lonesome. S/

Yep, we all know criminals would have left their guns outside if the sign had been posted properly...

>> “No Guns” signs are invitations to criminals to commit crimes in these establishments without fear of being caught or harmed.

No doubt.

Establishments that post “No Guns” signs are showing contempt only for law abiding citizens and the 2nd Amendment. To Hell with them.

Well, that’s logical. But “No Guns” establishments are in reality making an obnoxious political statement that defies logic and the spirit of the Constitution.
