Pentagon is weighing allowing some immigrants brought illegally to the country as youths to serve in the military, a unilateral step by the Obama administration as immigration legislation remains stalled in the Republican-led House.
The announcement came Tuesday as House Speaker John Boehner, R-Ohio, defended his election-year decision to rebuff a narrow immigration measure pushed by a GOP congressman to achieve a similar goal.
The Pentagon consideration would apply to immigrants who arrived illegally as kids but already have received work permits and relief from deportation under a program President Barack Obama announced two years ago, called Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, or DACA. More than 500,000 immigrants have benefited from the program. …

The Pentagon needs to have every recruit fill out a background form----advising recruits that falsifying a govt form is a felony.
Each recruit should check off whatever applies to them:

I say anyone who wants to take an Oath to our nation and serve in the military, they should be given the chance, AND should be put ahead of the line for citizenship.
The point of this article is not about the "gimmes", it's about rewarding those who would fight for you, your family, your friends, our way of life and our Country.
Filipinos have long served our Navy with distinction, even though not citizens. If this gives a small percentage of illegal aliens' sons/daughters to do something positive for our Country, why not? One of my best friends on my first ship was a Filipino citizen. Yes, I get the unlawful crossing the border, and maybe they should be excluded.
Before you go ballistic on me, know this:
I was a dues paying member of FAIR (Federation for American Immigration Reform) back in the 80's;
I have lived 2 miles from the border of Mexico and reported to Border Patrol many times when I saw the illegals in the neighborhood, not to mention going through my side gate.
I was a MinuteMan and worked with the co-founder Jim Gilchrist and stood watch on the border back when.
Point: The sons and daughters of illegals who want the opportunity to become an automatic citizen through military service, I say yes. Anyone who volunteers to put their life on the line for the USA is okay in my book. I don't care if they're from Mexico, Scotland, New Zealand, Chile or any other country that respects our values, as long as they are not Muslim.
I don't trust ANYONE who is a Muslim. They can talk all they want, but I've read much of the Koran and some of the Kadiths. I've seen the so-called moderates party on 9/11/2001. I've read the "moderates" words and they always come down to "infidel". Anyway, other then those lying sh*ts, I'm open to anyone who would fight for our Nation's security. End rant.

On a serious note, there was an interesting article (not sure how much truth to it) on the French Foreign Legion in Vanity Fair within the past few years.
They want to turn the military into a stealth welfare waystation on the path to amnesty. Illegals will flow in and get some government job in the states or some european base their entire enlistment and then get out and get citizenship with all the benefits of service and start off chain migrations bringing in their family and their family bringing in their family.
They’re doing this so that conservatives and the public dare not criticize it because its the military and the public believes every single person in the military is rambo waking up every morning to trudge through the dunes of Fallujah fighting off ambushes by the Vietcong.
Finally, our very own Legion Etrangère Americaine! (OK so they'll speak Spanish, but you get the idea.) Why now our blessèd government can get us involved in dozens of regional conflicts without asking Congress ... or Mayor Deblasio, or Okra Winfrey .... or anybody! Of course, if La Legion is ordered to shoot Americans .... ¡No haría problema!
