A police officer, a paramedic, a rabbi, a nurse and a Boy Scout leader were among at least 70 people arrested in the New York City area in recent weeks as part of a sweeping investigation into the anonymous trading of child porn over the Internet.
Immigration and Customs Enforcement, which led a five-week investigation ending last week, planned to announce Wednesday that it resulted in charges against at least 70 men and one woman. Officials call it one of the largest local roundups ever of individual consumers of child porn, and a stark reminder that they come from all segments of society.
Consuming child porn is not something that is just done by unemployed drifters who live in their parents basement, said James Hayes, ICEs New York office. If this operation does anything, it puts the lie to the belief that the people who do this are not productive members of society.
Advances in technology and computer capacity have allowed child-porn collectors to more easily amass vast troves of images and to exchange files with each other directly, authorities say. The cyber dragnet resulted in the seizure of nearly 600 desktop and laptop computers, tablets, smartphones and other devices

“Who are we to judge”? /s
Good grief! What’s the matter with people???

The Boy Scout leader also coached a youth baseball team. The rabbi home-schooled his children and others. Another person had hidden cameras used to secretly film his childrens friends.
One defendant was already on bail following his arrest last year on charges he used the Internet to direct women to record sex acts with young children. Court papers allege he indicated the last video he had downloaded and viewed depicted a mother sexually abusing her 3- or 4-year-old child.
High power lawyer, son of a federal judge, father of four was arrested last year for this here in KCMO. They found it on his laptop at work. Wow.
A Scout “leader”
Imagine that
“The cyber dragnet resulted in the seizure of nearly 600 desktop and laptop computers, tablets, smartphones and other devices.”
That’s 8.5 devices for ever person arrested. While I’m glad the arrests were made, I think there might something wrong with that.
Must have been Scouting for Boys.
Just wait. You are only seeing the beginning.
We are so screwed.

By my definition of productive if you are a deviant or harm children you are an oxygen thief and have contributed nothing to this world.
All of the perps should beat least put in Prison for the rest of their Life’s.

Where's your problem? The "other devices" might be mobile harddrives, memory sticks - in short, almost anything on which porn could be stored.
Regards,
Just out of curiosity, I wonder how many of the 71 were employed in some way by the government...
They left God and God left them to their perversity.
Back in the ‘50’s, one day, I and all my friends stopped being cub scouts. No explanation was offered and we quickly learned not to ask our parents why. Childhood gossip provided the answer. The Boy Scouts had had an overnight camping trip. The three scout leaders, a local cop, the adult son of the Congregational minister and a fellow who owned a sporting goods shop somehow conspired to show a few of the boys what could occur between boys and depraved men.
I think the survivors, if any, are still in prison.
Correction.
is not something that is just done by unemployed drifters who live in their parents basement, wear one piece pajamas, drink hot chocolate and discuss getting health insurance.
Exactly. If they are going to engage in illegal and creepy stuff why would they expose their behavior by trading with other creeps over the internet? That's just stupid.
