CNN President Jeff Zucker declared his network would not going to be shamed into covering Benghazi and other stories without real news value at an awards dinner Monday.
Capital New York reports that Zucker explained CNNs post-plane plans during an interview at the Deadline Clubs annual dinner on Monday night.
I dont think theres any question about our commitment to breaking news, as evidenced by all the questions about the plane, Zucker told The New York Times Bill Carter (RELATED: The five most ridiculous aspects of CNNs missing Malaysian flight coverage).
So were still there whenever that happens, he continued, but were going to supplement that with some different kind of storytelling.
What kind of stories? Climate change is one of those stories that deserves more attention, that we all talk about, he explained though he lamented the fact that when we do do those stories, there does tend to be a tremendous amount of lack of interest on the audiences part.
But there are some stories Zucker is loathe to touch, like the House select committee on Benghazi scandal.
Were not going to be shamed into it by others who have political beliefs that want to try to have temper tantrums to shame other news organizations into covering something, he explained, taking a not-so-subtle shot at the Republican Party. If its of real news value, well cover it.

CNN is barely hanging onto hotel lobbies.
Good thing nobody is watching.
We are not going to be shamed into caring about or watching CNN’s alternative “News”.
The perfect example was CNN interupting their constant coverage of the the missing plane with a Breaking News Story of...
... The Titanic sinking 102 years ago!
That pretty much says everything you need to know about CNN's news coverage.

Sort of like saying that Daniel Pearl died of severe anemia (after terrorists slit this throat and sawed his head off!)

CNN doesn’t matter.
Mort, nobody watches you anymore anyway.
Are you still running hourly coverage the Flight 370 loss?
Tall tree, short rope.
So aliens could invade and if Obama said aliens don’t exist CNN wouldn’t cover it.....
OK....
They might even start telling people at the top of the broadcasts, "We are not news. We are an official government propaganda organ. We will lie to you and love it while we are doing it."
And then they will smile, and launch into the 'news'.
When the balloon goes up, the media is the first target.
Who watches CNN anyway, except those captive audiences in airports.
Just my view: Rush ‘mostly’ retired a long time ago...
Cool!
It's your funeral!
