The way the short guy is holding his rifle is VERY close to “brandishing” - which is NOT the same thing as “bearing”.
Keep your g—damned finger away from the trigger unless you intend to shoot someone you stupid little moronic twerp.
It was a stupid stunt. No way to to represent the right to carry nor to further the cause.
Amen. True. Whoever planned this stunt did the cause no good.
I wonder how many of the hotheads offended by Chipotle’s decision would feel the same way if they were eating there and a group of openly well-armed Middle Eastern men walked in.
Indeed.
Did you see the picture of the two - the large guy is carrying his long gun in a non-threatening manner. If I had been there, I would have kept an eye on him, but not reacted.
The smaller one is trolling for a response at best, and trying to incite fear at the worst - finger on the trigger guard, ready for action, and the barrel slightly elevated - clearing conveying a threat. And threats sometimes get answered.

No, I mean showing it off in a manner designed to draw attention to it. Like the small one in the picture in the article I linked to just up thread.
Notice that, per another reply, those guns do NOT have the mags inserted - they have a mag holder inserted in its place, keeping the mag handy but not instantly ready to fire.
Excellent insight. Someone needs to research these guys and see if they're really "one of us" (albeit along the lines of "our crazy uncle"), or some crazed antis trying to make us look bad (they've pulled such stunts many times before).
They’re both obviously trying to cause trouble (if only angst among the clientele). There’s no indication they just happened to be carrying offensive weapons and wanted a bite to eat.
They’re trolls. I’m surprised how many here defend their actions.
“Threats sometimes get answered.” Indeed, someone _properly_ OCing (holstered, inoffensive, low-profile ... be he cop or not) may very well have found legal standing to escort them off the premises at gunpoint - or on a gurney, at the slightest hint of further escalation.
Best summary of the situation I’ve seen. Yeah, it’s legal, and maybe he’s just trying to get home to cut down a tree ... but I’m not gonna stick around to find out.
Excellent.
Per my comment, you can't determine from the picture whether or not there is a round in the chamber. The rifle may not be ready to fire multiple times, but it could be ready to fire once.
A chambered round, but the mag isn’t? deliberately? That’s a pretty strained theory - not just when the mag is a mere 90 degrees from full insertion, and especially when involving a military which is borderline paranoid about chambered rounds. IDF handgun doctrine is built around “mag inserted, empty chamber”: first step on drawing is chambering a round.
Find some solid basis for your “chambered round but no mag” theory before propagating it.
Perhaps you are using the wrong context for interpreting my observation.
I was not suggesting that IDF or any other forces would be willing to allow a chambered round in a rifle which has no magazine inserted.
My comment was aimed at the open-carry demonstrators who got so much attention because they had magazines inserted, pointing out that the mere fact that the magazine is not inserted would not make the rifle unloaded.
Before open-carry was outlawed here in the People's Republik of Kalifornia, those who were open carrying were routinely detained and the officers would not be content to observe the lack of a magazine, they would take the gun and check the chamber.
my thoughts exactly
some kind of activists; the question is what kind.
I never saw those before! It does look like it.
