Head of Virginia GOP under investigation in connection with land deal in Fluvanna County

A special prosecutor is investigating the newly installed executive director of the Republican Party of Virginia amid allegations related to his tenure as chairman of the Fluvanna County Board of Supervisors.

Shaun Kenney, who took over day-to-day operations of the party last month, is under investigation for his role in a purchase of land that may have been poised for public development, according to The Virginian-Pilot of Norfolk. Kenney confirmed the investigation but denied any wrongdoing in an interview with the newspaper.

Kenney was a controversial choice because of some of the positions he took in his former role as a conservative blogger. In one instance, he called for then-governor Robert F. McDonnell’s resignation long before the governor was indicted.

Oh my goodness, what a horrible thing for a private citizen to have an opinion.

GOP consultant Chris LaCivita, who counts Cuccinelli among his clients, tweeted last month about Kenney and the rift. “[Your] job is to push news about your opponents and not trash your own party. Sean. You need to go,”

But they have no problem with this guy having an opinion and he can't even spell the guys name right.

They have no problem with law breaking either, as long as it’s their own people.

Could it be we have a completely corrupt political system at the local, state, and national level? If so, it will not reform itself.

Abraham LIncoln, March 4, 1861: “This country, with its institutions, belongs to the people who inhabit it. Whenever they shall grow weary of the existing government, they can exercise their constitutional right of amending it, or their revolutionary right to dismember or overthrow it.”

Thomas Jefferson, November 13, 1787: “God forbid we should ever be twenty years without such a rebellion. The people cannot be all, and always, well informed. The part which is wrong will be discontented, in proportion to the importance of the facts they misconceive. If they remain quiet under such misconceptions, it is lethargy, the forerunner of death to the public liberty . . . And what country can preserve its liberties, if its rulers are not warned from time to time, that this people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to the facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants. It is its natural manure.”

For so many years I have longed to move to beloved Virginia. Now that possibility is within reach as my kids are gone and my house is for sale. And Virginia seems to be going to hell. Just straight to hell.

Not so fast guys. There could be more to this than meets the eye. First of all, you guys have already shown how important the accusation is before anything else. You’re ready to string the guy at the mere whiff of accusation. Now why is it important to get the accusation on the record. Well,it appears the accused guy is a conservative. Which means that he’s likely not a Cantor supporter.

Here’s something else reported today

Rep. Eric Cantor’s chief consultant, Ray Allen, has been telling people that he will essentially burn down the Republican Party of Virginia so that he and Cantor can assume control of its smoldering ruins. http://thebullelephant.com/cantor-consultant-threatens-break-republican-party-virginia/

That link was contained in a free republic post today here.

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/3157884/posts

This freerepublic post tell how much of an amnesty advocate Cantor is.

The implication here is that Cantor’s people are burning down the republican party and not the local democrats. That the result will be that Cantor will stay in power and pass amnesty.

That was our point. The media comes after our side as if vague scented scandals matter. No amount of wrongdoing matters for the Dems, so we aren’t taking their bait. The media can take a flying leap.

“There’s nothing there,” Kenney told The Virginian-Pilot. “It’s a citizen complaint designed to embarrass a public official.”

Virginia GOP Chairman Pat Mullins hired Kenney at a time when the party is trying to navigate a nasty fight between establishment forces and grassroots activists influenced by the tea party. Those activists assumed control of the state GOP’s governing board two years ago, helping then-attorney general Ken Cuccinelli II win the nomination for governor. Cuccinelli’s defeat against Terry McAuliffe in November was interpreted by many in the GOP as a sign that the Republican nominee had taken his party too far to the right in rapidly changing Virginia.

Echoes of the conflict have played out in this year’s intraparty elections. Last weekend a longtime party official from the 7th Congressional District — who received the full-throated support of House Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-Va.) — was unseated by a tea party favorite.

I believe you may have read my post a little too quickly, as I was pointing out that the people complaining were guilty of the same thing.

I don’t think its even that.

The article says it was a “citizen complaint” and not any formal legal matter. Who was the citizen? The presumption is that it was a democrat who filed the complaint. But the context suggests that it was likely cantor’s forces who filed the complaint.

So you think a conservative would file an unsubstantiated citizens complaint against another conservative so as to make the other conservative as to make him look band and thereby push him out.

hmmmm.

Well we don’t actually know who filed the unsubstantiated citizen’s complaint. When we do know who filed the unsubstantiated citizen’s complaint—we’ll have a pretty good idea of who wants Kenney to go down. So likely that information will be very hard come by.

In the mean time the group with greatest motivation to bring down Kenney is Cantor’s faction.

“According to an explosive new report by David Steinberg at PJ Media, Rep. Eric Cantor’s chief consultant, Ray Allen, has been telling people that he will essentially burn down the Republican Party of Virginia so that he and Cantor can assume control of its smoldering ruins.”
