Who knew holding the World Cup in Islamist hell would be a bad idea?
Some mistakes are minor. Others are really big. It’s estimated that as many as 3,000 foreign workers will die in Qatar working in preparation for the totalitarian Islamist country’s big event. Most of the workers who have died already, died of heart attacks.
And they probably won’t be the only ones because aside from being an Islamic dictatorship that sponsors terrorism, Qatar is also really hot.
Blatter had earlier suggested that gay people just shouldn’t do gay stuff, which is illegal under Islamic law. Maybe now he can propose that everyone just learn not to sweat.
The temperature in Qatar between May and September ranges between 30°-50°C (86°-122°F) with humidity of 90%.
FIFA president Sepp Blatter has admitted that it was “a mistake” to choose Qatar to host the 2022 World Cup.
Blatter said that the technical report into Qatar’s bid had warned that it was too hot but despite that, FIFA’s executive committee had voted for the Middle Eastern country.
I wonder why they voted for the parent dictatorship of Al Jazeera whose influence abroad is extensive through its investments.
But Mr Blatter insisted Qatar had not “bought” the World Cup: “No. I will never say they bought it,” he said.

A statement claimed: ‘As explained in his answer to the journalist, the president reiterated that the decision to organise the World Cup in summer was an “error” based on the technical assessment report of the bid, which had highlighted the extremely hot temperatures in summer in Qatar.
So FIFA couldn’t spend 5 minutes on Google to check temperatures. Clearly the research here was of the first caliber.
In an interview with the Swiss television channel RTS Mr Blatter said: “We made a mistake. A mistake. You know we make lots of mistakes in life.”
Really, really big mistakes. But nothing will be canceled…
However, despite his admission, the FIFA chief will not change the World Cup’s destination, instead he will force through plans to run the 2022 tournament during the Qatari winter.

The Frenchman who could follow Sepp Blatter as the most powerful figure in world football has promised that he will consider stripping Qatar of the 2022 World Cup if elected as the next FIFA president.

Which begs an answer to the question as to why they can't reschedule something eight years away to December or January when the weather is likely to be cooler.
Yeah, I understand that Qatar has already been awarded the games and put a ton of money into the investment, but is three to five months or so later to get them out of the worst of the summer really going to hurt anything that much?
Well that’s one way of shutting up the gay olympic demostrations, hold them in Islamic countries.

Imagine American Football was as popular in the rest of the world as it is here, with many other countries having domestic leagues as popular as the NFL and with schedules running at the same time of year as the NFL.
Then imagine someone says - let's have a world championship American Football tournament and play it in November and December....
Because the EPL, Serie A, La Liga, Bundesliga, and the MLS would not allow that to happen.
Plus the example of the recent Winter Olympics where the NHL was without their star players for three weeks.
If they want to be PC and give a Muslim desert country their turn to host, then they ought to pay the price right during their season, not on the backs of some unfortunate third world construction workers.

Which the NHL is now having serious reservations about ever doing again. And soccer doesn't need the PR like the NHL thought it would get from the Olympics

For me this selection was mainly about bribery, with a small helping of PC just thrown on up.

You are probably right, but my point is that they should reap what they sow and not kill some 45 year old father from Sri Lanka who just came for a construction job to support his family.
Attendance will be at record lows if it is held in Qatar. Much too hot and no alcohol.
Blatter can’t change it because the bribes have already been paid. The new guy can change it and Qatar can’t complain because of the bribes paid to others.
Foreign visitors to Qatar can drink alcohol. Not sure what their plan is for World Cup, but I doubt it is completely dry. Surely not wet enough for a football hooligan, but not dry.
Certain upscale hotels have bars for foreigners.
The UEFA Champion’s League winner this year could probably beat every team that will be at the World Cup, with the possible exceptions of Brazil and Spain.

The firm Populous (new Yankee Stadium, London’s 2012 Olympic Stadium) helped Qatar with its 2010 bid for the 2022 World Cup. Qatar June temperatures reach 50C/122F.
By 2011, Populous' director said the air conditioning was not feasible and that traditional Arabic 'wind tunnel' methods for cooling should be used, which 'could' keep temperatures in the stadium and pitch as low as 30C/86F (riiiiiight).
3,000 deaths among workers is low. The reports to date are an estimated 4,000 deaths by 2022, and Qatar is already denying the number of deaths reported by the countries supplying the construction workers.
Seems like FIFA has an out on the contract. They shouldtake advantage of it ASAP.
