Well it confirms what I have ALWAYS, ALWAYS believe that, when you “are 20, and you are not liberal, you do not have a heart. When you are 40 and you are not conservative, you do not have a brain.”

Nonsense. I had my conservative “conversion” at about 15. And was the grandson, and political protege, of my County Democratic Party Chair. . .

This shows that I haven't had a heart since age 11. While watching the 1976 GOP Convention at the ripe age of 12, I wept bitterly as the delegates nominated Gerald Ford over Ronald Reagan.

That “young liberalism” is simply a false sense of righteousness.

Young liberals derive their sense of “good personhood” from their activist issues, which involve forcing others, through government, to do “the right thing”.

They really recoil when you put in it stark terms - “you’re not a good person, you’re a thief, a cowardly one at that, who uses the guns of government to steal to make you feel good about yourself.”

A young person that is biblically trained won’t fall for that crap.

I was conservative when I was 20, so I toatally reject the first part of that statement. You become conservative when your brain kicks in. Mine did it at about 8 when I first saw a union picket line, and after it was explained to me what they were doing, I realized that they were bullies no different from the ones at school except capabale of doing more harm.

Ok, I didn’t realize that last phrase at the time. Took me a few more years.
