Steve Coburns insult to Churchill Downs hospitality is the latest in a series of complaints from different jockeys and owners.
In the New York Times, Coburns wife explains how California Chromes co-owner Perry Martins 83-year-old mother didnt receive good treatment from the facilities.
The hospitality we received at Churchill Downs wasn't very good," Coburn said. "It was a bad day for my partner and his family."
The Martins drove her down from Michigan for the Derby and according to them; the Churchill staff didnt help them get the elderly woman, who uses a wheelchair, to her seat or down to the Winners Circle.
The experience was so bad that the Martins chose not to attend the Preakness and decided to watch the race with their kids at an undisclosed location.
Some were happy that he spoke out while others defended the state of Kentucky via social media.

Victim. Victim. Victim. Victim. Attention Whore.
“We have an excellent and veteran team of volunteers from throughout our community that serve as official Kentucky Derby hosts...”
There’s the problem. One of the most famous racetracks in the world won’t pony up *cough* to hire actual employees.
Just askin'
The California Chrome owners are outsiders and the racing establishment are paying them back for not following the establishment’s rules.
Kid Kruz was the horse with homosexual ownership, not California Chrome.
“The California Chrome owners are outsiders and the racing establishment are paying them back for not following the establishments rules.”
Similar to the way the GOP treats conservatives.

Bullshit! Churchill Downs is ran and managed by inept elitist snobs that suck so bad, they've GOTTA be libtards.
Ron Turcotte (The jockey who rode Secretariat to the Triple Crown) hasn't even been able to attend the last 2 years because Churchill Downs didn't feel he was deserving of a handicap parking pass, even though he is now paralyzed and stuck in a wheelchair.
FU Churchill Downs!
He hadn't beaten them yet.
OMG so true. I lived in Kentucky and they are snobs when it comes to their horses and horse racing.
Weekend Moderator GOT ME.
They should make me a Moderator. I’d be amazing. :)
LAZ FOR MODERATOR, 2014!
Kentucky has an identity problem....even more than mighty Missouri..I just traversed the state north to south late last nite...
Western KY is very southern.....almost like west TN or northwest MS
very dark and flat and agriculture and drawls
Middle KY is part middle TN.....part southern Indiana
Eastern KY is serious mountain culture....former Unionist
Aside from western part it doesn’t feel super Southern to me but then again neither does Nashville anymore
But if you tell them they ain’t southern....thats fighting words
I know southern Indiana folks talk cuntry and disclaim anything north of Seymour
Its complicated....Dixie has grown yet shrunk
Anyhow....Kentucky is OK with me....
Just don’t get nosey in the eastern third
