A man pleaded guilty Wednesday to first-degree murder in the rape and beating death last summer of a 93-year-old Omaha woman, in a deal that spared him the death penalty.
Sergio Martinez-Perez, 20, entered the plea in Douglas County District Court and was immediately sentenced to life in prison. The public defender for Perez did not immediately return a message left Wednesday seeking comment.
Police said Perez broke into the south Omaha home that Louise Sollowin had lived in for 70 years in the early hours of July 21, and severely beat her and raped her. Sollowin had grown up in Omaha’s Little Italy community, where her family started Orsi’s Bakery.

raping a 93yo woman should be grounds for hanging and quartering, no prison required.
I worked in a prison for more than 25 years. I can assure you, that you are correct. It is also true, however, that a lot of people have it better in prison than they do on the streets. They get three good meals a day, cable TV, a warm place to sleep and some of the best medical care money can buy. Heck of a deal.
So how much is it going to cost us in lives and treasure to keep turning a blind eye to the problems with immigration?
Could we hang the bastard then drop his body on the border to show ILLEGALS that we are going to get tough on WETBACKS!! Deport all Mexicans!!!!
