Governor Jerry Brown: San Diego Wildfires Due to Global Warming

Report: Almost All SD Fires Have 'Suspicious Ignition Point'

by Michelle Moons 3 hours ago

On Thursday, Governor Jerry Brown asserted that it is settled that climate change is a factor in the wildfires now devastating parts of San Diego County. Brown’s comments come at the same time that the Escondido Fire Department reported that two suspects, an adult and a juvenile, have been arrested in connection with intentionally starting the fire.

According to a story in the U-T San Diego, the governor opined, “Despite what you may hear in Washington, climate change is a factor… This is not about theory. It’s not about politics. This is about fires on the ground, people’s homes.”

When Governor Brown was asked about the suspects, he responded by saying, “I do know that people do stupid things. They throw a cigarette butt out of a car...” Moreover, Brown admitted, “If someone really wants to intentionally create fires it’s unfortunately, tragically, a very easy task.”

Brown, a staunch advocate of climate change theory, recently confirmed that Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) is in danger of being overwhelmed by floods due to global warming.

I suppose that the suspicious origin of some of the fires kinda eliminates the possibility of arson, governor?...................

OOH! OOH!

And the wildfires produce CO2!

Which causes more global warming!

Which makes more CO2!

OHNONONONONO!

We’re all going to die! Die! Die!

And then the climate deniers will inherit the earth!

A few years back LA was completely surrounded by arson set wild fires.

That pretty much happens every year. When I was a kid living in Santa Ana (late '60s) and then in Lancaster, the cycle repeated constantly was landslides in the spring due to rain then heavy foliage growth followed by fires in the summer. The Enviro-nuts had Cali ban the construction of fire breaks in the forests which made for some savage infernos.

Gotta wonder if Jerry's early years were too heavily involved in partying with Linda Ronstadt and Jackson Browne to remember that.

The Escondido Police Department said late Thursday that an adult and a juvenile were arrested on suspicion of trying to start a fire as wildfires continued to rage near the city and other areas of northern San Diego County.

Investigators were trying to determine whether the pair had any involvement with the brush fires that have scorched more than 10,000 acres in the county, according to a dispatcher with the Escondido Police Department.

The suspects were identified as Isaiah Silva, 19, and a 17-year-old juvenile, police said in a statement late Thursday. Both are Escondido residents.

We didn’t start the fire. It’s been always burning since the world was turning.

Yes, there are frequent fires in southern California, when I used to hang out with Ben Watson the late civil defense honcho for the Pomona Valley, he said that should a fire start in the mountains north of LA during a Santa Ana wind condition, if the wind lasted a week, it would burn all the way to the Pacific, and there was nothing that could be done to stop it.

As Red Badger noted in post #5, what was different about that year was coördinated ignitions at multiple locations completely encircling the Greater Los Angeles area.

Back before the greens took over CA...they would drag an anchor chain between two Cat D-8’s to clear the brush off the hills around LA. But no more..just let it build up and burn.
