A police commissioner in a predominantly white New Hampshire town says he won't apologize for calling President Barack Obama the N-word, and he sat with his arms crossed while angry residents at a meeting called for his resignation on Thursday.
"I believe I did use the 'N' word in reference to the current occupant of the Whitehouse," Copeland said in the email to his fellow police commissioners, part of which he forwarded to O'Toole. "For this, I do not apologize — he meets and exceeds my criteria for such."

My mother told me the word means a person of low worth. Of course it’s impolite that is the point.
Lots of decent folks of all colors and I don’t want to hurt them, but I reserve the right to sort things out.

I actually remember bringing it up to my work mates in a hall in a cubicle farm back in 1991. I said there was a word that was being sold as so awful, even though it was not a swear word, that just speaking the word out of context would freak people out. I said it was offensive to me that with our first amendment this could even be done to a word. They didn’t know what I was talking about and wanted to know what word would have such an impact.
I said, very quietly, “N****r.”
You should have seen their response. They all started looking around to see if anybody was listening. I said, “See what I mean? Don’t you have a problem with that?”
In the great film "The Dam Busters" the squadron commander ( who dies) has a faithful black Lab named "N****R" and when the dog is called, it's bleeped out...
