U.S. House panel subpoenas Kerry again over Benghazi

A U.S. Republican lawmaker on Thursday issued a second subpoena for Secretary of State John Kerry to testify before Congress this month about the 2012 attacks on U.S. facilities in Benghazi.

The State Department reacted angrily, saying it was the second time Kerry had been subpoenaed while on foreign travel, and noted the announcement had been made via Twitter. "This is not the way legitimate and responsible oversight is conducted," said State Department spokeswoman Marie Barf.

House of Representatives Oversight and Government Reform Committee Chairman Darrell Issa had earlier issued a subpoena for Kerry to appear on May 21, but lifted that request after the State Department said it would conflict with Kerry's travel schedule. The subpoena issued on Thursday would require him to appear on May 29.

This, IMO, is a mistake. He knows nothing about Benghazi (or anything else) except marrying rich widows.

“This, IMO, is a mistake. He knows nothing about Benghazi”

oh God, I hope this isn’t just the first in a long line of ineptness by this committee. but I have this sinking feeling it is, and what better way to take an almost sure gop senate takeover and flub it away.

I imagine Kerry is going to have quite an extensive travel schedule for the next few years.

The way to do this is to withhold appropriations until Lurch submits to the legitimate Congressional authority. And if we had an opposition with balls, that might happen. Since we don’t, it won’t.

“oh God, I hope this isn’t just the first in a long line of ineptness by this committee.”

I suppose it’s possible that Kerry will gleefully throw Hillary to the wolves. That might be the strategy. Also, the people who do know report to Kerry now. And, he most certainly will cough up papers that could be interesting. Hillary probably tried to cover them up, but bureaucrats cover their *sses with paper’s their boss would like to keep hidden.

ROTFLMAO!

That recidivist bastard traitor has been covering himself in barf for over four decades - how appropriate that his mouthpiece is named Barf.

She’s just regurgitating what she’s been told say. You could say she kind of just throws it up for all to hear.

Exactly, exactly. There is no cost to putting Kerry up there and having him act like a fool; he already is a fool and even his side knows that. There is hopefulness in having Gowdy lead the questioning. The reason is that you have, in the character and experience of a savvy prosecutor, the potential for linearity in the questioning instead of this rep and that rep asking their own amateur questions in 5 minute snippets for their own aggrandizement. The way to diffuse this hearing into the standard mishmosh of meaninglessness is to have irrelevant witnesses testify about suppositions and “he said she said”. Such things are inadmissable in a court of law but there are no such restrictions in kongressional kabuki. This is precisely why you put a Kerry on the stand; if you want to have the thrust of the thing dissolve into drivel. The only thing(s) Kerry can possibly testify about are pure hearsay.

Barf - Harf . . . . What difference, at this time, does it make?

Hillary is standing between Kerry and the WH of course he will throw her under the bus. And “reluctantly” throw every piece of evidence that will destroy this admenistration with her. He’s out for himself
Maybe he should consider staying out of parks and off airplanes

Could be a mistake, but Issa wants answers from Lurch why his subpoena for Benghazi emails was ignored but Judicial Watch’s court order was not. It seems this administration complies with the judicial branch but gives the finger to the legislative branch.

Personally, I’d rather let Mr. Gowdy handle all Benghazi matters.

And, he should never, ever clean his gun. (Even if he doesn’t own one, he’ll somehow manage to shoot fatally himself while cleaning it.) The FBI calls these “Arkencides.” (Seriously.)
