Obama camp angry, embarrassed over 2009 Nobel Prize: official

A senior Norwegian diplomat says his country's former ambassador to the United States was given a verbal lashing by Barack Obama's chief of staff when the president was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 2009.
Morten Wetland said Thursday the ambassador, Wegger Stroemmen, was approached by Rahm Emanuel, now Chicago's mayor, who accused Norway of "fawning" to the newly elected U.S. leader.
Wetland, the Norwegian ambassador to the United Nations at the time, told The Associated Press he did not witness the dressing down but said there was an air of embarrassment in Washington that Obama had been given the award so early in his presidency.

They only give those prizes to whoever those perverts think advances the cause of socialism, equating that with peace. Never mind the 100 million or so dead it left in its wake in just the last century.

I suspect there’s some backtracking going on in advance of Obama’s Iranian talks failing.
Awarded the Nobel prize for not being George Bush. The world as a whole was a lot more stable under Bush.

But he accepted it, didn’t he? I wouldn’t have accepted it. I really wouldn’t. All he ever was, was a “community organizer” a part time “teacher” a Senator who got elected by getting his opponents kicked off the ballot and finally the first half-black president, who blacks admittedly voted for simply because of his color. That’s shameful.
When Juan Williams argued with the rest of the Fox Round table that he was qualified to be president because he could “run a presidential campaign” it was humiliating.
And if people are stupid enough to vote for that, well that brings us around to the old chestnut of getting the government you deserve.

He sure seemed pretty jazzed to get the prize when it was awarded an who could be more deserving than the man who bragged that he had stopped the rise of entire oceans simply by being sworn into the Presidency
I have little doubt that our Narcissist in Chief lobbied hard to get the Peace Prize awarded to himself , but was blindsided with the negative backlash and is now trying to walk back the miscalculation in damage control mode because it makes him look like such a fool.
It really does not matter any way because Obama totally destroyed the Noble Peace Prize brand and nobody gives a damn about it or who it was awarded to anymore

We don't know if Obama was mad.
He did accept the award, but the money was (supposedly) given away to charity.

I was embarrassed by it, too. But given what he has done since then, I have learned the true meaning of the word embarrassed.
