Like those who stood against civil rights for African-Americans, gay-marriage foes are fighting a battle they can't win.

I thought I got it?
Allow me to say, I find your posts intellectually high minded, blended with historical analogies, usually saying something outside the common discussion, and with a touch of congeniality. Leftist? Don’t know where someone would get that.
How in the world did you bring in same-sex marriage from what I said? I’m surmising that you are stretching things a long, long way by probably thinking of same-sex marriages as being, in your sect’s quaint phraseology, “barren.” And they are, but there is no parallel between them and opposite-sex married couples who choose to not have children but yet choose to love each other sexually, which seems to grate at you.
For the record, I do not endorse same-sex marriage. I have a long and abiding dislike of homosexuals. I really wish they were back in the closet.
To bolster my case as regards what your views are on marriage and reproduction, I offer as Exhibit A what you put on your home page, from Zionist Conspirator: “Romulus is perhaps the most right wing, traditionalist Catholic on FR.” That explains it, totally explains it.
Oh yes, how many children do you have? I see you’ve avoided that question.
Elsie, I think we are dealing with one strange bird, someone you wouldn’t want to associate with. I wouldn’t, that’s for sure.
Since I quoted you in post 83 of this thread, I think it’s appropriate to ping you on this matter. Besides, you are much more familiar with this character than I am.
Thank ‘ee kindly!
I don’t get it either. I’m about as non-leftist as one can get, IMO. But then I would think that, wouldn’t I?
I think I ticked off the other gentleman by recognizing that we’ve lost the debate over gay marriage. Apparently the idea is that if you refuse to recognize a defeat, it isn’t really a setback.
Vinegar Joe Stilwell was run out of Burma by the Japanese in WWII, to the point where he and everybody else had to walk out thru the jungle to safety in India.
Some tried to claim the debacle wasn’t that great a defeat. Joe would have none of it. “I claim we got a hell of a beating. We got run out of Burma and it is humiliating as hell. I think we ought to find out what caused it, go back and retake it.”
IOW, the first step in a successful counterattack is the recognition that you’ve been defeated. Only then can you regroup and launch a counterattack that has some chance of success.
