Rams defensive end Michael Sam is getting a reality show.

The Oprah Winfrey Network announced today that it is working with Sam on a reality TV project that will show his life as the first openly gay player in the NFL.

“We are honored that Michael is trusting us with his private journey in this moment that has not only made history but will shape it forever,” Oprah Winfrey said in a statement. “I am proud of the focus on authentic storytelling in our new documentary series format.”

Yeah, when they care more about same-gender relations than the immense national debt, lack of budget plans, American missiles and drones blowing homes, schools, and hospitals, along with the children and teachers in them, to bits, and America making hollow threats to the Russians, America isn’t something to be proud of right now, sadly enough.

Also remember, the NFL has this thing called an “Anti-Trust Exemption” hanging over their heads.

Just perhaps the Obama Administration has reminded them of that from time-to-time, which my explains the NFL’s recent PC turns.

Could be, but I don't really think they have to be reminded that much. Check out the political contributions of the owners and the commissar, and I'm sure you'll find they go predominantly to DEMPCRATS, with perhaps a few RINOS sprinkled in. That pattern goes back decades. The NFL is a very prominent example of crony capitalism, as are the other major professional team sports operations.

Heck, the NFL draft in and of itself - with potential employees coming out of college limited to employment with only one employer and being denied competitive market bidding for their services - seems like a blatant anti-trust violation, but, of course, the crony capitalists have gotten away with it for years.

Ah well... sitting in front of a TV watching 22 bloated multi-millionaires beat the crap out of each other for three hours is a waste of time anyway.

Opensecrets.org is a good place to start looking. At least they record organizations/lobbying groups donations. And I doubt the NFL and teams for it wouldn’t be on there.

The NFL is socialism.

Believe it or not, the NFL itself, IIRC, is treated as a non-profit for tax purposes. What it is, most accurately, is a crony capitalist cartel that restrains trade and economic competition. Socialistic, though, in more ways than you think.

As some have pointed out, Michael Sam probably should not be so happy about being a late draftee. He could be better off as a non-drafted player with the leverage to negotiate for his services with several teams and choose the best offer. Besides, the Rams, the only team he can negotiate with at present, are apparently strong at defensive line. But of course, socialists have no concept of free-market economics.

Which status could be reviewed and altered at anytime. I suspect that's why the NFL has gone so PC since Obama got into the White House.

The NFL has been PC for decades. The only thing really new here is that a prospective player said publicly, "I'm gay," knowing that the Gay Mafia was in his corner. There have been quite a number of previous players widely reputed to be homosexuals, but the NFL never had to deal with it from a PR perspective.

Big difference between a gay player who keeps quiet about it, than a gay who demands the team celebrate it.

They may tell him he will have to stick it out on the bench for awhile.

What is his favorite place on the field? The end zone.
