The Buckley Rule: Vote for the Most Conservative, Viable Candidate
rushlimbaugh.com ^ | Rush Limbaugh

RUSH: Mark in Richmond, Virginia, you're next. Great to have you, sir. Hello.

CALLER: Hello, Rush. I'm a longtime listener, and I've listened to you over the years, and one time you said something about trying to elect the most conservative candidate that was electable. Now, correct me on some of the details, but in light of the Tea Party candidates that are trying to get elected running against the establishment machine, I thought this would be relevant to go over what you exactly said and the details of that.

RUSH: I quoted William F. Buckley Jr., who said that you want to support and elect the most conservative candidate who is viable, not electable, 'cause who knows, I mean, who gets to say who's electable and who isn't? You don't know that 'til after it happens.

What do you mean by “real conservatives”? Second place was a Democrat and third place was the RINO helping the Democrat

Bart 5.7% McLeay is really a real conservative ... but the conservative voters said no to FOLLY and gave the country a new Senator.

If the voters do the same next week in Georgia, they will say no to Col. Larry Mrozinski who will finish 5th or 6th.

And say yes to Barry Loudermilk who will either finish 2nd and make the run=off .... or fall short and finish 3rd.

More to the point, there’s a reason casinos don’t accept bets once the outcome is known lol.

” Politics goes in cycles. The pendulum swings one way, and it comes back the other way.”

Not from where I sit. Politics is not a pendulum, it is a ratchet. Tyranny advances, then is slowed. Then tyranny advances some more, before it is slowed again. then it advances some more...

Tyranny is never reversed by the political process. The size, scope, power, and influence of The Collective grows inexorably until it collapses of its own weight or is supplanted by a revolution.

Not pessimism, just simple observation. It’s not what I want, but it is what is.

If we judge political success by the advancement of an Agenda, then the Left is basically undefeated as their agenda of collectivism and cultural marxism has been advancing unhindered for more than a century, slowed only by the Coolidge and Reagan Administrations.

I believe that in a number of ways, the Left had it’s agenda rolled back by Ronald Reagan. I know that in some ways it continued on too, so I’m not making the case that across the board it was rolled back.

Reagan did what he could with a Democrat House and Senate.

With a Republican House and Senate, things could be rolled back of only they would.

I concede that in our lifetimes things have progressed along the goals of the Left.

Reagan did rebuild our military. He did clean out the nest of communists in the Western Hemisphere in Central America. He did help to bring down the Evil Empire.

Reagan also brought back the ability to be proud of our nation. Under Carter is was not fashionable any longer. Hopefully someone can do this again after Obama.

For the most part, I do agree with the idea the Left is not rolled back. Sometimes it is, and the potential is there.

In 2016, if we play our cards right, we could see a massive roll-back. If we get the House and Senate, and we get a strong fire in the belly Conservative, decades of Leftist agenda could be reversed.

Now, what is job one before 2016? It’s getting folks primed to go Conservative, and getting a candidate for the Presidency, that gets it.

I understand where you’re coming from, and I’m not here to say you’re totally wrong. We’ve been going in the wrong direction for a long time.

Generally Republicans can’t reverse the trend. Hopefully ours will.

Lowell Wackjob (Weicker) was a phony since day one. He helped eliminate the Republican Party, by starting the income tax when he became Governor. I said he ran for Governor to pay back his defeat to Joe and he gave us an income tax to get back at Conservatives.

Now he is on the board of Compuware, which the owner with Wackjob's help, stole the Whalers. Wackjob is a commie.
