Russia's prime minister warned Monday that Moscow could punish Moldova after a Russian politician's plane was briefly held while traveling in the region over the weekend, according to state news agency ITAR TASS.
Dmitry Medvedev told a meeting of government officials that Russia would take the episode into account "with regards to economic cooperation" with Moldova.
Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin was visiting the separatist province of Trans-Dniester on Friday, where he collected signatures for a petition calling on Moscow to recognize the region as independent from Moldova. Boxes containing some of the signatures were confiscated by Moldovan authorities at Chisinau airport.

Moldova has to wonder if they are next.
Looking for a smaller and easier target.
Russia grows more pathetic by the week.
Well, we knew the Ukraine was the test ground. The message has been received.
Russia is tossing it’s weight around like a tubby 165 pound third grader. It makes you wonder what is going on domestically for the leadership to find the need to misdirect the attention away.
This isn’t an act of war on Moldova’s part. It’s an international incident at worst, and a ho hum moment otherwise.
Now Russia is going to punish Moldova? What an insecure childish leadership they have in Moscow these days.
Moldova said at the time, that they were doing so at the request of the “US Government”.
RT tweeted that the request came from George Soros himself.
“Now Russia is going to punish Moldova?”
Russia has plenty of leverage to use against a tiny state like Moldova.
The gas valve, and independence for Trans-Whatever. If Russia decides to give them the same status as Kalliningrad, there isn’t a damn thing the Moldovans can do about it.
And it sits astride the only international trade route that Moldova has with the rest of the world.
Unfortunately the US is run by a kindergartener
Are you always an idiot? Or do you just play one on the internet?
Rogozin is a real bast**d.
I wouldn’t put it past him to do exactly what he threatened to, arrive the next time in a Super-sonic bomber, and dare the Ukrainians to challenge it.
Think John Kerry, with cajones.
I’m sure it does. None of these smaller nations can withstand pressure from Moscow. That’s the rub. None of this activity is warranted. None of these nations is a threat to Moscow. Not one.
But fomenting that coup in Ukraine sounded like such a great idea a couple months ago. Good thing there wasn’t a chance of that kind of brilliance blowing up the entire region.
It bothers me to see people like you constantly trying to give the guy a promotion! LOL
I have said he acts like a nine year old child.
I still believe that to be true.
His world view is prepubescent.
He has this skewed idealistic vision of the world that is nothing but a vapor trail. He is clueless to the damage he is doing, but he is doing it by choice. He thinks he’s the smartest man in the room.
This guy makes the general idiot Democrat like Kennedy et al, look like Mensa candidates.
Czar Putin is moving on to reestablish the old Soviet empire. No Ronald Reagan to stop them this time. The fool in the White House is too busy playing golf. And Putin is not afraid of him or the US military full of homos.
How does Transnistria survive as a pro-Russian ally? It’s only access to the outside world is through Moldova and Ukraine, both of which are hostile to Russia.
“None of these nations is a threat to Moscow.”
Stopping Rogozin on a diplomatic visit, boarding his plane, and taking documents from a Russian diplomat is enough to go to *WAR* over. Not to mention intercepting a national aircraft on a diplomatic mission, like the coup government did over Ukraine.
Wars have started over much smaller diplomatic incidents. That is a CLEAR casus beli. And Russia has every right under established doctrines, including our own, to respond to it.
Which brings me back to the White House...
“But fomenting that coup in Ukraine sounded like such a great idea a couple months ago. Good thing there wasnt a chance of that kind of brilliance blowing up the entire region.”
I keep hearing Erkel Obama saying, “Did I’z do that??”
promotion. lol
Go to war over it? Seriously?
Wow.
So you think tens of thousands of people should die over it?
Like I said, wow.
