Lindsey Graham’s big scare: How an ex-con reality star could ruin his life

These are tough times for the Republican maverick.Where once this was a celebrated archetype among the conservative tribe (as long as it included a devotion to low taxes and global military dominance) today there is just no room for deviation from the party line in even the smallest of ways. Take, for example, the plight of Sen. Lindsey Graham — who just suffered an epic humiliation at the hands of his own party in Charleston County, South Carolina, for being a RINO turncoat:

Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) was censured Monday night by Republicans in Charleston County who don’t believe he’s conservative enough.

According to The Post and Courier of Charleston, South Carolina, the vote to censure Graham was 39-32, “done by secret ballot and with limited discussion.”

“I want my politicians to be more conservative,” said Tom Sheridan, one of the supporters of the resolution.

The censure document covered about 30 points, including disapproval of Graham’s support for President Barack Obama’s Supreme Court nominees and of his cooperation with Democrats.

The Graham campaign issued a feisty rebuttal insisting that they were going to take their campaign to all 20,000 Republicans in Charleston County and then see who comes out on top. The problem for Lindsey Graham is that the most liberal Republicans in the whole state live in Charleston County. The rest of the state is much more conservative.

The latest polling isn’t great news for him: 40 percent approve and 38 percent disapprove. And that’s actually an improvement over previous polls. Still, he is being challenged by six other Republicans for the GOP nomination and there is little reason to believe that he won’t be the nominee. All the political wags thinks he’ll make it over the 50 percent threshold.

There are two vile and dangerous oligarchs that should be removed from power this year (yes, even though they're republicans): Mitch McConnell and Lindsey Graham.

Both have demonstrated unconscionable arrogance.

If Graham gets through a primary and a runoff, he can still be removed in November. And Ravenel is a way for the people of South Carolina to do that, without voting for a democrat, which is an execrable act.

I don’t think “wag” was the correct spelling.

Add McCain and I’m in!

I don’t care when his term expires. The man needs to go.

Is this Thomas Ravenel going to hurt us in the general?

i have to admit, i watched maybe three episodes of Southern Charm... Thomas Ravenel... he is in his 50s, never been married... slept with a 21-year old gal... had a pregnancy scare... turned out she was not pregnant... then after all that, they decide they want to get pregnant anyway... in March they had a baby girl... they have no plans to marry at this time...

“Is this Thomas Ravenel going to hurt us in the general?”

That depends on whether you want Graham to be reelected. If Graham is the nominee he will help us by making him lose the general.

If somebody other than Graham is the nominee, then Ravenel won’t be running. He’s out to defeat Graham one way or the other.

What a laughably ignorant bigot this scribbler is. Nothing short of a Southern genocide would please people like her.

Last culture standing wins, sugar. We’ll put flowers over yours, but no marker.

I remember how impressed I was with Graham during the Clinton impeachment hearings . . . he did a stellar job in that case from his role on the judiciary committee.

Now that he is a senator . . . I suspect it was an alien abduction, an invasion of body snatchers.

Then again, some private embarrassing photos could also be the culprit behind this.

Ravanel is interesting no question and he can sure talk in that old South sincere way

He seems genuinely a tender hearted guy who detests democrats

But I think he also detests social conservatives because I’m guessing....they are who worked to get him busted and punished and from what I’ve read it was political

He bought I think several ounces of cocaine to share at one of his lavish parties and suffered a charge of distributing cocaine for it which was silly....it was clearly simple possession

I think he’s foolish to fall for a 21 year old at 50 but its not my business....its just dangerous risk for cuckoldtry.....especially with her alabaster skin and blue eyes and long legs and proven appetite for satisfying her urges...which I understand....I was young once

Thomas....whom I admit my wife and I like ...should have chosen a 30 year old....still supple and fertile but mature enough by then....like Mrs Altschul suggested.....yes we watched the show and loved it

But I imagine southern reality stars don’t fight enough for the lavender mafia at Bravo....I mean the only real ass on the show was from Delaware after all....man...when he publicly snitched out Catherine for her dalliances he should have had his ass called down

Ravanel has it in for those who done him wrong and it seems like that means SoCons so in the end how different than Graham might he be besides on immigration?

Its sad that such good states like South Carolina and Mississippi and Tennessee can’t muster senators that reflect the state

Its a direct result state party leaders preserving their own kind.

I share your feelings about Ravanel. That makes me think we're not alone in our feelings and if Linda makes it to the election, that's a good thing.
