Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin, who oversees the countrys space sector, said he would ban exports of Russian-made rocket engines used to launch U.S. military satellites.
Rogozin also said via Twitter that Russia does not intend to continue cooperating with the United States on the International Space Station program beyond 2020. The White House has proposed extending station operations to 2024 and has been working to bring the program's international partners onboard.
The rocket engine in question is the RD-180, which is used to power the first stage of United Launch Alliances Atlas 5 rocket, one of the U.S. militarys two main satellite launchers. The engine is built by NPO Energomash of Russia and sold to ULA by RD-Amross, a joint venture between Energomash and United Technologies Corp

That's it. No more Presidential 'soul' assessments. Just remember the general rule about Communists, former Communists. They never had a "soul".
Bush Explains His Comment About Putins Soul, Says Russian Leader Changed
What about "Mission Accomplished"? Want to "Change" that, too?
Putin can out tweak the Zero at his whim
Is Nasa the only customer ? That would kill this Russian company
matter of fact ,without Nasa money the Russian space program would be like it was a few years ago , Mostly Dead
The civilized nations of the West should be helping Eastern Europe end its dependence on Soviet oil and gas.Without that oil and gas the USSR would be just another failed Communist state...like North Korea. The worst thing to have happened to the civilized world in the last 30 years is discovery of oil in the USSR.
Last one out change the locks with C-4!
Russia prepares bill on foreign asset freeze in reply to sanctions Senator
I am waiting for the Ruskies to shut down our space program over this since we don't have a current or planned launch system which does not depend on the Russians (i.e. rocket motors).
Not when you have China and India to buy your hardware.
This just seems a little too coincidental after Obama pretty much shut down our manned space program in his first term. It is tailor-made for embarrassing and ridiculing our country, an activity Obama seems to relish with his apology tours. Eliminating the eastern European missile shield. Obama’s degrading of the US military. Refusal to approve the Keystone pipeline, which plays into Russia’s hands. The “I’ll have more flexibility. . .” comment. Syria. Crimea. Ukraine. Looks to me like Obama and Putin long ago cooperated to put together a plan that they are now executing.
As big a buffoon as Obama is, even he would get something right on occasion if only by accident. Putin has already scored is six hockey goals on Obama.
Untrue. Only the Atlas V uses Russian engines. Delta IV and the SpaceX systems do not.
And the alternative is that maybe Putin never changed after taking a ride in GWB’s pickup truck. Maybe. Just maybe. The US has changed over the past 10 years. Nah. That would be too obvious, if true.
Okay, the SpaceX does not, but I was pretty sure the latest Delta's did use Russian engines: Lawmakers propose U.S. alternative to Russian engine
The Delta uses rocket engines manufactured here in the USA by Aerojet Rocketdyne; the RS-68 and the RL-10 engines.
Got to set the record straight on “mission accomplished”, that was done by the carrier group to signify the longest carrier deployment in our history, not the end of the war.
That said, my first though here was Bush seeing Putin’s soul, sure we can trust him, let’s depend on Russia for all our space missions. Sure, brilliant. Can’t blame El-Presidente on this one.
Hurting Russia over a conflict in which we have no vital stake has come back to blow up in our face.
We no longer have a space program! But that’s what we get for supporting the losing side in the Ukrainian civil war.
Like the Russians say, since you don’t care about our interests, we don’t care about yours. Only in Obamaland is all that somehow supposed to make sense.
