U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz will visit Ukraine later this month to meet with the embattled nations political leaders in the midst of violent confrontations with pro-Russian separatists, a spokeswoman confirmed Tuesday.
The trip is certain to raise the Texas Republicans profile at a time when hes been widely speculated to be a 2016 White House contender. The trip is sponsored by Secure America Now, a conservative non-profit group that says it is dedicated to mobilizing millions of national security activists to support policies that protect our nation against terrorist infiltration, attack and capitulation to enemies.
Cruz spokeswoman Catherine Frazier said no taxpayer dollars will be used on the trip.
Cruz told The Associated Press earlier Tuesday that hell meet with political, military, business in Ukraine and other countries in Eastern Europe. Israel is also on the itinerary. Ukraines new leaders, who ousted a pro-Russian president, have scheduled a May 25 presidential vote.
Ukraine right now is facing an enormous threat from a resurgent Russia. (Russian President) Vladimir Putin has been quite naked about his desire to reconstitute as much as possible the old Soviet Union, Cruz told the Associated Press. I have a particular responsibility to assess firsthand the current and future military threats that could jeopardize our safety and the security of our allies.
Cruz has previously called for the Obama administration to reconsider a Star Wars type anti-ballistic missile system to counter Russia. Hes also pushed for U.S. exports of liquefied natural gas to reduce Ukraines dependence on Russia.
RINOS say “It's EITHER isolationism OR it's interventionism.”
They, unlike Reagan, believe there is no middle ground and that is is either/or when it doesn't have to be that way, and shouldn't be that way.
Everybody that talks like that, never ever seems to find anything worth fighting for.
And the perpetual strawman fallacy attacks are never ending. I have yet to see a serious person suggest we send troops to Urkaine, but hey, knock that strawman out of the park lmao.
The same idiots that say the US should stay out of everything, are the same idiots that say it is just fine for Russia to annex, send in special operations and threaten with full military invasion.
The same faux conservatives are the true RINOs, just fine with a nation’s sovereignty being violated.
What a joke.
“No, they are committed to defend the USA and it’s critical interests.
That has nothing to do with Ukraine.”
The other side of the argument says that the Ukraine is the stance for freedom and what is good on this earth.
QUOTE: “Cruz spokeswoman Catherine Frazier said no taxpayer dollars will be used on the trip.”
Conversely, Hillary and Pelosi don’t even buy their own liquor in flight.
Huh? dump Cruz for some rino/Rand Paul type, I don’t think many will do that.
I would call invading and conquering a country, a little interventionist, also, stationing 435,000 troops on the borders of the Russian empire seems to reveal some interest in their actions, as would taking them on, all over the globe.
Reagan was famous for foreign policy aggression and strength, he was no Obama/Jimmy Carter like, libertarian on foreign policy and national defense.
I can see a Senator Reagan traveling to Ukraine.
I'm asking the question.
He might not be...
We’d do well to STFU and figure out how we actually meet our existing NATO obligations, over-extended as they are.
**************
This is where the neocons and Obamunists get into bed together and ‘unify’. They need a foreign distraction from domestic decline and the encroaching police state. This is also a great test run on suppressing armed, urban resistance and crushing a relatively Western populace. This is practice for domestic use.
This bogus startup war -is- the Molotov-Ribbentrop accord, but it is between American neocons and Obamunists. The truce won’t hold, as both are determined to be the sole survivor. A pox on both their bunkers.
We should fully support Ukraine in their fight against the Russian invaders and the Russian terrorists in eastern Ukraine but stay out of the fight. It is not our borders, our people or our direct business.
After the election if Ukraine wants to be part of NATO we should also support that.
Because of this Russian invasion of Ukraine we and all other free nations of the world should use all economic means possible to cripple Russia....keeping in mind wars have been started by such actions.
It is a dangerous fine line to be walking, standing against this Russia expansionism of invading a sovereign nation and risking our children’s lives in a nuclear armageddon.
The fact Russia not only has been but still is our enemy must not be lost in the spin of these events.
RINOs/GOP-e have no love for Cruz.
They would/will use him where they need him, and them dump him at the first chance when they no longer need him.
Of course the GOPe and the rinos despise Cruz, he is no rino/libertarian like Rand Paul.
Cruz is the most hated man by the Paul/Romney/Rove wing of the GOP.
Nobody will be using Cruz either, again, he is no Rand Paul or Rubio.
Rand Paul is not a RINO.
Cruz is not a RINO.
But...
What remains to be seen is if Cruz is an interventionist in the mold of McCain or Graham (which I doubt), or one who leans more to cautious (not reckless) use of American power overseas.
Rand Paul is not a RINO. But neither is Cruz, either. Rubio, Rove, Romney are all RINOs.
Rand Paul is a libertarian-leaning conservative.
Rand Paul is not in league with Romney or Rove, either, as they are GOP-e, and he is not.
It comes down to this: if Cruz (for some reason) ends up not being able to win the nomination, then as a conservative, you must support Rand Paul over ANY RINO, because libertarians (though not-so-good in many areas) are always better than a RINO. Always.
Cruz is like Reagan and is rightfully visiting Ukraine, and Rand Paul is a rino.
Paul is liberal on so many issues, gay marriage, abortion, immigration, national defense, voter ID, he is trying to move the GOP into the Romney/Rove positions in a number of areas.
It is no wonder that Paul was a big supporter and campaigner for Mitt Romney.
