Leadership of the "Donetsk People's Republic" has declared independence of the region and has sough accession to Russia.

"Upon the results of the referendum held on May 11, 2014 and based on the sovereignty declaration of the Donetsk People's Republic, we, people of the Donetsk People's Republic, declare that from now on the Donetsk People's Republic is a sovereign state," co-chairman of the "Donetsk People's Republic" government Denis Pushilin said at a news conference on Monday.

"We ask to consider the issue of accession of the Donetsk People's Republic to Russia," Pushilin said.

After the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991, "our people still hoped that Ukraine, Russia and Belarus will restore their historical unity," Pushilin said. Events are happening quickly now.

Russia threatening to turn off the gas spigot if Ukraine doesn't pay in advance for June deliveries, and the Kiev Gov's just declaring that the "Military operation will go on".

The coup government isn't interested in negotiating anything, and my opinion is that position is coming straight from the White House.

From other articles, it sounded like the $17 billion IMF bailout was conditioned on retaking the rebel oblasts. The Kyiv government can’t afford to back off without renegotiating the bailout provisions and the US certainly has influence on the IMF.

Lugansk has just declared independence.

Two eastern regions have now formally split from Ukraine.

Congratulations, you got it in one....

Without the wealth of Eastern Ukraine, there is no way that Kiev could ever pay back those loans.

And a LOT of people make a bunch of money booking the fees for those huge loans, and the political favoritism that money buys.

Ukraine should just give them the treatment that Russians gave Ukrainians back in the day.

Put’m on trucks and take their azzes to the border and tell them to go to Russia...your houses and jobs are now in the hands of Ukrainians.

lol.

“Lugansk has just declared independence. Two eastern regions have now formally split from Ukraine.”

The dominoes continue to fall. Meanwhie, the Kiev coup government can barely keep 900-1,000 troops in the field.

I wonder if it’s safe to call the Pro-Putin’s separatists again? Sensitive bunch these heroes of the Donetsk Republic.

As if Russia needs “justification” for anything it does. Did you hear Vladi scored six goals in a hockey game? [swoon]

Did you watch last year’s NFL All-Star game?

Agreed. I would also tell Russia that if they allow the territory accession to the Russian Federation. They just would have to pay what’s due just like the current government would have.
Kinda like , “You break it (up). You bought it.” and “It” ain’t cheap.

And to think...
Obama’s own arrogance handed this to them, and Putin, on a silver platter.

History is not going to be kind to us, I fear.

All sanity is gone now. Obama is flexing his flexibility and giving Ukraine to Russia. The government is Kiev is either plying right into Putin’s hands or playing along with Putin

“Obama is flexing his flexibility and giving Ukraine to Russia.”

I don’t think it was intended that way, but it is going to be the end result. At least part of it, I think.
