Daily Beast columnist Eleanor Clift said on Sunday’s The McLaughlin Group that late U.S. Ambassador Christopher Stevens, who was killed the night of the Benghazi attacks, had not been murdered but had died from “smoke inhalation.”
“I’d like to point out that Ambassador Stevens was not ‘murdered,’” Clift said, using air quotes, “but died of smoke inhalation in a CIA safe room.”
This did not land well. “It was a terrorist attack, Eleanor,” panelist-for-life Pat Buchanan said. “He was murdered in a terrorist attack.”
Clift responded that it was an opportunistic terrorist attack inflamed by the anti-Muslim video, the blaming of which has caused so much trouble. “It was still a CIA [outpost],” Clift said. “If you’re going to put somebody on trial, put David Petraeus on trial, not Hillary Clinton.”
Host John McLaughlin finally stopped the discussion, saying “We’re going to be returning to this subject, I’m sure, repeatedly over the next six months.” Promise?

The 1970s Wideworld of Sports would have taken a guy like Theodore, after his presidency, and featured him weekly on safaris, wild west camping expeditions, and Amazon River cruises. He was a nut....but he was the kind of nut that you’d want to camp with or going hunting with.

Even her father, Mortimer Snerd, wouldn’t come out with something that stupid.
It only took about thirty minutes for Sean Smith to die of smoke inhalation in the same room. He was found by the rescue team from the CIA annex. They looked but couldn't find Amb. Stevens as the building was still burning, full of smoke and there was still an assault ongoing at that time.
