Someone in the GOP is starting to listen to our refrain of "Say No to Feisty Liberal Moderators." On Friday, RNC spokesman Sean Spicer talked to Newsmax TV host Steve Malzberg after the RNC voted to change the rules to include more conservative moderators in the primaries.
Spicer noted the obvious: For too long, its been the media thats decided when were going to debate, who is going to be in the debate, what questions are going to be asked, what subjects are going to be forward....As we all know, the liberal media does not have the interest of the party at hand . . . You should not just have left-wing, liberal moderators asking questions of our candidates and determining that.

Geraldo Rivera, Bill O’reilly conservative or Mark Levin, Rush Limbaugh conservative?
Ha! Exactly!
I’m not stupid, I’ve been watching the GOP long enough to know that they’re just setting us up to put their moderate guy on the ticket.
I think its safe to assume that they’ll be successful which is why house and senate races are so important. A conservative constitutionalist congress can rein in a moderate president or even a rabid out of control Marxist like Obama.
I don’t want to see the likes of Stefanopolos(sp?) asking candidates about banning contraception.
I remember at that debate, George S. wouldn’t let it go, and the audience started booing him. It was so absurd, when we have so many real issues to discuss with candidates, that he decided to put something out there, which has no bearing on a presidential race.
Oh, they want Frum I’m sure. And some other RINOs
I completely agree with this.
The US media is dominated by liberals.
The US is not. We need to get a balanced press in the debates.
I’m series. Stop giving liberals the keys.
Balance.
It depends on the definition of “conservative”. Liberal republicans have been trying to re-define “conservative” for a while now.
Steponallofus
Mark Levin,Rush Limbaugh,Glenn Beck for starters
You've identified the fatal flaw of so-called conservatism: it doesn't speak with one voice while the Left is unified. The Left learned long ago how to exploit our differences to win elections with the help of its lap-dog media. We'll stay in the minority until we unify, come forward with positive, well-articulated legislation to counter the socialists and quit bickering among ourselves.
Bill O’Reilly would be orders of magnitude better than what passes for balanced moderation from the left. For crying out loud! George Stephanopoulos was Clinton’s senior advisor, and now he’s supposed to be a balanced moderator? What a joke! Even worse, Mr. Stephanopoulos is hardly unique. There are always plenty of cushy media jobs waiting for members of Democrat administrations. It’s almost as if the media and Democrats are one and the same...
Also time for them to moderate some presidential campaign, general election debates, not just Republican primaries. And also moderate some Dim primary debates.
Republicans should never have allowed the one-sided debate moderation game to have gone on as it has in the past.
Wolfe Blitzer was masterful at a primary debate in 2011. I was at the DAR for that one sponsored by Heritag and AEI. Candy Crowley performed oral sex on Obama at a later presidential debate. The GOP knows who will be fair and who they should make a mockery of and veto. Our folks just need to show it.
Why invite the enemy to the interrogation in the first place?
Joe Scarboruough Conservative! /sarc
How come we can’t sponsor and manage our own debates?
If the major networks and cable news shows won’t broadcast our debates, well, have we really lost anything?
Can someone here at Free Republic actually make the case that MSM sponsored debates help Conservatives deliver their political message?
And mass candidate debates are idiotic.
I learn NOTHING when I watch them.
If I were seeking the GOP nomination, I would challenge the top individual candidates to debate me one at a time.
Plenty of local TV stations would jump at the chance to broadcast debates like that.
The problem is, it's not bickering.
It is deadly serious disagreement on basic political and religious principles.
The fact that RINO’s, Neo-Cons, Paleo-Cons, Evangelicals, Libertarians, and Constitutionalists can create a political coalition is nothing short of a miracle.
