It is "appropriate" for Republicans to use investigations, such as those into Benghazi and the IRS, for election campaigns, two-time presidential candidate Mitt Romney said Friday.
Romney stressed that the investigations would not be taking place if Republicans did not have a majority in the House.
"There would not be an investigation into Benghazi, there would not be an investigation into the IRS, were there not a Republican House. And, so to say, 'Look, elect Republicans so that we can have these kinds of investigations' is appropriate," the former Massachusetts governor told MSNBC's "Morning Joe."
The issue of using the probe of the 2012 bombing in Benghazi, Libya, for fundraising purposes came to light after a letter using the attack as a backdrop appeared on the National Republican Congressional Committee website as part of a fund raising appeal, the Wall Street Journal reported. Democrats have blasted Republicans as conducting a partisan "witch hunt" with the select committee appointed to investigate the Benghazi attack. Some Democrats have threatened to boycott the committee, while others have criticized the uneven number from each party on the panel.
Romney said the Benghazi investigation was valid because "there are questions that have to be answered that have not yet been answered" about the incident. He also maintained that the administration of President Barack Obama had "apparently withheld certain information" about the bombing where four Americans died.
On the minimum wage, Romney said, unlike other members of his party, he felt "we ought to raise it." He said it was important for the GOP to communicate to workers, and, in particular, to Hispanics, their commitment to job growth.

Wow!!! What a great post! VERY well said.
God bless you and yours!
If Mittens runs again, I will again NOT vote for him and I would bet that many more conservatives won’t either. Maybe the GOP ruling class can re-animate Wendell Willke or Alf Landon or Tom Dewey and try any one of them again. They can nominate their GOP-E trash but they can’t elect them. We will continue to see to that in ever growing numbers.
I think it is more accurate to say that a diminishing number of conservatives are willing to accept the Romneys, McCains, Doles, etc. as the lesser of two evils. An increasing number of us see such trash as the GREATER of two evils since we NEED a principled political party to achieve policy goals. Our GOP-E opponents feel a NEED to get contracts, jobs, personal power, status, invitations to swell cocktail parties on Capitol Hill, cushy retirement gigs on K Street, etc. They want everything that most of the public despises them for.
Works for me. But in the end, it’s the same reality.
I don’t consider myself any wiser or more intelligent than anyone else. I don’t think I have some double secret key to answers. But I just CANNOT wrap my head around the sheer magnitude of stupid it takes to not only slit ones own throat, but do it with the same knife you watched in use for 30 freaking years. And not only that, but two years ahead of the event, telling the world that you are just fine with doing so.
Boy, those GOP guys must shake in (doubled over laughter) FEAR when they read websites with people saving them cash and doing the PR job for them.
Sometimes BE, I am wholly convinced that Idiocracy will happen exactly like in the movie. I am just waiting for one of the Right Wing talking heads to explain to us that RINOs help Plants grow.
In many states, we may simultaneously organize and control third parties to nominate candidates to punish GOP-E with and to make the ruling class the former ruling class. That is what THEY have done to folks like Virginia's Ken Cuccinelli.
We can nominate a credible third party candidate and let the GOP-E greedheads know that that candidacy will only be withdrawn upon the nomination of a candidate WE find principled and trustworthy. Necessarily that can only take place AFTER the GOP convention.
Non-negotiables: Guns, judges, babies, marriage, military, hard foreign policy, substantial reduction of government programs and taxes.
May God bless you and yours!

Thanks for all you do here as well! God bless you and yours!
Here is the perfect of the burning magnesium level stupidity I’m talking about.
On another thread right now, many freepers are hot and heavy bitching to high heaven about the NFL drafting the homosexual.
Every one is mad as hell the ESPN showed the lip lock, mad as hell that the NFL drafted him, mad as hell about everything.
Not one of them would comment... even comment when told to stop sending a $100 tithe to the cable/dish company that spreads it. Much less agree to do it.
They went impotently along bitching to no good end. There’s our issue in a nutshell.
The GOPe handed NY district 23 to the dems because they wouldn’t support the conservative. They had Dede Scozzafava.
What a piece of work she was.
I did not support her.
I will not support Romney either.
