Unfit to be President - Romney to GOP: Raise Minimum Wage
newsmax ^ | 5/9/14 | w carruthers

It is "appropriate" for Republicans to use investigations, such as those into Benghazi and the IRS, for election campaigns, two-time presidential candidate Mitt Romney said Friday.

Romney stressed that the investigations would not be taking place if Republicans did not have a majority in the House.

"There would not be an investigation into Benghazi, there would not be an investigation into the IRS, were there not a Republican House. And, so to say, 'Look, elect Republicans so that we can have these kinds of investigations' is appropriate," the former Massachusetts governor told MSNBC's "Morning Joe."

The issue of using the probe of the 2012 bombing in Benghazi, Libya, for fundraising purposes came to light after a letter using the attack as a backdrop appeared on the National Republican Congressional Committee website as part of a fund raising appeal, the Wall Street Journal reported. Democrats have blasted Republicans as conducting a partisan "witch hunt" with the select committee appointed to investigate the Benghazi attack. Some Democrats have threatened to boycott the committee, while others have criticized the uneven number from each party on the panel.

Romney said the Benghazi investigation was valid because "there are questions that have to be answered that have not yet been answered" about the incident. He also maintained that the administration of President Barack Obama had "apparently withheld certain information" about the bombing where four Americans died.

On the minimum wage, Romney said, unlike other members of his party, he felt "we ought to raise it." He said it was important for the GOP to communicate to workers, and, in particular, to Hispanics, their commitment to job growth.

I fully believe the time will come. Soon. But they will curse the name of people like us as they are lined against the wall. History shows it. The word “Useful Idiot” was coined to describe exactly their behavior and actions. The Vischy French, the Kapos...there is a long and less than proud history of it.

They will literally die before they ever admit they were the problem all along.

What bugs me the most are the collaborators and quislings who will smugly march right along with everything while working against us.

Romney WAS Obama in argyle.

Outrageous that Muffie could ever get near enough to a Republican ballot to hold one, nevermind be on it!

A six foot waif, with a stretched sock for a spine, he even looked like his conscience was on fire trying to speak as a moral and social conservative. (Which got him in the end, I believe.)

I don’t know why he had no core, but he was no social conservative, nor moral. He laid out the TEMPLATE in MA for every anti-American, anti-family, anti-religious liberty idea Obama ever had. Open to gay marriage, Romney forced abortion coverage onto the Catholic Church, and socialized health care.

There is no intellectual room anywhere for anyone to claim he wasn’t then, and certainly is now, anything but a full blown socialist, retrobate.

I’d say now, that his inner Charlie Christ is in full flaming bloom.

Thanks for the rant. Rita

What bugs me the most is that they are given a platform/platforms to do it. Until they are treated as what they are, they will only further disrupt the Right getting it’s sxit together.

When you look at the collective time that we spend on FR alone arguing with Romneybots and Bhoner excusers, that is tens of thousands of collective hours that could be used to further conservatism instead of defending it from internal attacks. Now spread those lost man hours out across all the right wing web. That is a pretty effective campaign someone on the GOP left is running to keep us running in circles.

Simple math. So why does it continue? Not just here. Every right wing site has the problem. The problem also has a simple solution.

Look at the latest example/latest Romney imitator. Rand Paul. The guy is on a 3 week run of liberalism, spouting one leftist talking point after another, supporting one liberal idea after another. And what do we see?

As soon as someone points out, with fact, just how far off the reservation Rand just flew the Starship Conservative at warp 9, He has a cheer squad that pops up tearing into Ted Cruz to deflect and saying how we just don’t understand Rand’s cunning plan and that WE are idiots and not true conservatives.

Why does this continue? Why are we not tearing into these people, be they Romney/Rand/Whoever the conservative hating pol of the moment happens to be?

The old phrase about a lie getting half way around the world before the truth puts its pants on only applies because we LET IT. In fact, we HELP IT by not shutting or shouting it down as soon as it happens. We have to.

But in so doing, we are wasting productive time. But it’s only a catch 22 because they are allowed to do it in the first place. There are plenty of GOP websites. But they couldn’t keep us balled up in stasis if they posted there now could they.

And when it pops up on another thread

Edit: And when it pops up on another thread, the process repeats and the GOP/left keeps us from progress. Rinse repeat.

” They will literally die, before they will ever admit they were the problem all along.”

Truer words never spoken. Honestly, we’re looking at train material.

God is patient, and draws pictures for us. I know he did not answer the prayers of those souls on those trains, and that they were incinerated anyway, but.... 60 years later here we are. We’re hearing whining and praying and agonizing for relief, and then “conservatives” go and vote for their own enslavement in PLAIN SIGHT, of all things.

Damndest thing I believe we will ever see in our lifetime.

Romney is a parallel track to the same destination same as Obama.

God has surely turned man over to himself by now. I think He is out of patience and crayons.

It was pretty dumb for christiandom to beg God to put a gay supporting, abortion funding governor into the most powerful position on the planet. Then wonder why we got ignored.

We can either reevaluate our collective mindset or pay the price again. And again. After enough pain, we will either listen or not. But he gave us the free will to screw ourselves. too bad so many take him up on it.

And it gives me an extreme headache dealing with such powerful stupid.
There is a reason I have the Undead Thread.
It’s a place to let your mind fall apart after dealing with the stupid in the comfort of it not being obvious!

Well, the UT doesn’t exactly have a subject per se.
We wander from thread to thread, a “meta-thread” if you will, and either highlight an important subject or mock a recently dotted troll.
Unfortunately, the trolls have gotten wise to us.
And threads that we could use few and far between.
In thread, it works the same as chat.
Various people checking in and relaying local happenings on and off.
From various corners of the world.
Currently we are in the thread about the Ohio student getting suspended for pointing his fingers at another student “like a gun” which the officials deemed a “level 2 lookalike firearm” in defiance of sense and reality.
We keep wondering how the officials generated the “look alike” levels and where one may examine that rating system.
As well as the damage caused by a lvl 2 lookalike.
(1d5 of psi damage, I think)

It's time for a 2nd Party, my FRiend. What you and I or anyone else thinks about it is beside the point; it's not up to us, it's like trying to stop an incoming wave at the beach. Unless there's a way, way wild miracle in the next two years, the GOP nominee will be either Romney, or someone as essentially on-board with the Democrat agenda of state-run everything, working with the Democrats to make the vision work.

Americans want to vote FOR the opposite. They need a 2nd Party. Truly a SECOND party, at its base a Second Amendment party, because the right to keep and bear arms is an issue that unites Democrats as passionate as Republicans, and lots of folks between. Americans are sick of government and they want to vote for hacking it back and restoring rights and freedoms.

Right now is the time to be discussing and arguing the merits and possibilities of a plurality goal in the presidential race.

Wow -- OUTTA THE PARK!! Great post!

8. never used against Obozo the fact that Obozo is a spineless wimp or worse on foreign affairs since Romney (anything named Romney) believes that peace at any price is just sensible business. Refused to bring up Benghazi in the debates, did he not?;

Just ... BRAVO!!!!!!!!

The bottom line, from a place of pure pragmatism, is: If Mitt Romney is a "Republican," what the hell is Republican? Is what Ted Cruz has called for a number of times now, that the next president should act to overturn ALL of Obama's lawless acts -- is that Republican? I wish! But then there are Republicans who shield and protect Obama. They're also Republican.

What's Republican, if Mitt Romney belongs in the party? For minimum wage, or agin' it? Me, I'm agin' it. Am I a Republican? Must not be, because Romney is all for the Minimum Wage. Me, I hold minimum wage responsible for a number of ills afflicting America, from teen unemployment to illegal immigration, not to mention way fewer jobs.

So ... what's Republican? If it's Romney, "Republican" is going to hell.

All we can hope for at this point is that people vote their principles. Most wont. Most are too comfortable with their material goods to risk anything so radical and violent an act as checking a box for a non GOP candidate. So we are screwed. There simply not enough of us left with the guts to wield a pencil in anger.

I will never not vote. If I have to I will write my own name in since I’m the only person I trust implicitly. But the reality is that most self proclaimed conservatives are in reality situational ethicists that will keep voting for their own ‘free sXit’. They don’t call it that, but that’s what it is. The freedom to think they are saving the country by electing liberals. the freedom to mock those who won’t without fear. The free back pats from fellow travelers who don’t believe the things they say online either...Lots of Free.

Personally I won’t ‘give up’ in the sense that I will fight to the end. But I do it knowing that we lost this one ourselves. The libs didn’t win it. And we will not regain it in our lifetime. Perhaps our grandkids, when faced with a 1776 situation will remember the America their grandparents threw away and take up the fight to reclaim it.
