The office of the speaker of the House released this list of members chosen for the Benghazi Select Committee:
WASHINGTON, DC House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) today named the seven Republican members of the Select Committee on the Events Surrounding the 2012 Terrorist Attack in Benghazi. The Select Committee also provides for five Democratic members, and those names will be released when provided by the House Minority Leader. Boehner issued the following statement:
This investigation is about getting answers for the families of the victims and for the American people. These members have each demonstrated a commitment to this goal, and I have confidence that they will lead a serious, fact-based inquiry. As I have expressed to each of them, I expect this committee to carry out an investigation worthy of the American lives lost in Benghazi. I also urge my Democratic colleagues to treat this tragedy with the proper respect and appoint members so that we can finally, on a bipartisan basis, get answers, provide accountability, and help deliver justice. It is critical that this committee do its work in a focused, timely manner, so that the House can continue to make the economy and job creation its priorities.
The Republican members of the Select Committee will be:
- Rep. Susan Brooks (R-IN)
- Rep. Trey Gowdy (R-SC), Chairman
- Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH)
- Rep. Mike Pompeo (R-KS)
- Rep. Martha Roby (R-AL)
- Rep. Peter Roskam (R-IL)
- Rep. Lynn Westmoreland (R-GA)
Looking more and more like Nurse Ratchet.
Yep, Gohmert is another one that should be there.
And so it begins. ABC reporting it’s a kangaroo court and Pelosi calling it a stunt getting plenty of “news” time.
If Pelosi drags her feet naming the DemocRATs, Gowdy can lay these out at the "D" chairs on Monday:
Disappointed that Jason Chaffetz is not included; but still a good panel.
I think it’s up to Pelosi to name the 5
There are other things going on and soon to be going on.
Shouldnt they spread around the good guys ?
2:1... one more R, one less D...
Boehner is an idiot for not keeping Dem involvement to the absolute MINIMUM because they will DERAIL the hearings at every turn, with outlandish diversions to the War on Women and how Benghazi happened so long ago so what difference does it make, etc..
Elijah Cummings should NOT be allowed on any panel. He's been caught colluding with Lois Lerner during the last IRS hearing, and NOTICE THAT SHE STAYED SEATED WHEN CUMMINGS KEPT TALKING AFTER ISSA CUT HIS MIKE. She stayed seated because Cummings and she agreed she would stay seated. Cummings is a corrupt idiot, a typical Democrat.
I doubt she’ll appoint anybody with the seniority of a Cummings....in her little mind guys like him lend “credibility.”
I always say conservatives can walk and chew gum at the same time.
Susan Wiant Brooks (born August 25, 1960) is an American politician who has been the United States Representative for Indiana’s 5th congressional district since 2013. Dubina, Chief Judge of the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit.
Before entering politics, she worked at the law firm of Copeland, Franco
Roskam was a partner in the law firm Salvi, Roskam & Maher, a personal injury firm. He was named “Best Oral Advocate” by the American College of Trial Lawyers. The firm, now called Salvi & Maher, is politically notable because former Republican Senate candidate Al Salvi and former Republican House candidate Kathy Salvi are also partners in the firm. The Chicago Tribune noted that Roskam earned over $615,000 in 2005 as a personal injury trial lawyer.
After his parents took a trip to Vietnam and saw American veterans’ dog tags for sale on the street, Roskam, along with his parents worked to return the dog tags to their owners or the families of the deceased.
Westmoreland was born in Atlanta, Georgia, the son of Margaret Ferrell (née Lawson) and Leon Acton Westmoreland.[ He grew up in metro Atlanta. He has no degree beyond a high school diploma. He attended Georgia State University, but dropped out to work in a family construction business in which he later became an executive.
As a U.S. congressman, Westmoreland cosponsored a bill to place the Ten Commandments in the House of Representatives and the Senate. Westmoreland also sponsored a bill that the Ten Commandments could be displayed in courthouses in a historical setting.
Pompeo attended the U.S. Military Academy where he majored in Mechanical Engineering, graduating first in his class in 1986 and subsequently serving in the Regular Army as an Armor Branch cavalry officer from 1986 to 1991.[3] He subsequently graduated from Harvard Law School, where he was an editor of the Harvard Law Review. He then worked as a lawyer for Williams & Connolly
Come now, he had to put his RINOs in to trip up Gowdy.
Women make up 4% of GOP House membership
Yet 45% of this committee GOP membership
Is Bonehead being PC or thinks wimmin can grill the Witch better
Either way....I miss old America
Women are no better than men at politics and often worse instinct wise
Well see.
Gowdy should make it clear this hearing is about WHAT HAPPENED IN BENGHAZI AND AFTERWARDS not HOW WE SHOULD CHANGE THINGS IN THE FUTURE!!
Pelousy should appoint “Shining Lights” from the House from among her members, e.g:
- Cummins, of course
- Sheila Jackson Lee, Constitutional Scholar
- Guam geological expert Hank Johnson
- Socialist Bernie Sanders
And an at-large member with the appropriate ethnic & gender credentials to ensure “fairness”
