No surprise, yet it begins in earnest..

IMHO. Rubio need a few more years in the traces before considering a run. He also needs to solidify his thoughts and expressions.
I, for one, don't know where he is coming from, or where he is going. I don't see that he has a clear vision for the country, let alone the job he now holds.

I don't see that he has a clear vision for the countryI think his vision includes converting millions of illegal aliens into welfare-sucking, Obamacare-using Democrat voters.

"Fighting to revive his political prospects..."
Hm... let me guess, without even looking at the name: it's either AP or Yahoo News, talking about a non-liberal! Was I right?

They need the base to win. I think
They can’t win the base if they work for amnesty without an unprecedented and complete reversal/repentance
If they listen to the media on the demise of the tea party, they’d be wiser (understatement) to observe the IRS hearings
And put 2 & 2 together

Historically, it was generally accepted that Senators would make lousy Presidents. History has proven correct in that.

History will be proven wrong if Ted Cruz becomes POTUS. Ted has the chops and is doing all the right things to prove his conservative cred.

Poor Marco still has that Gang of 8 stench on his shoes. Oh, did he ever get played by McCain and Schumer.

Rand is exhibiting the same problem. He is calling for a bigger tent, yada yada yada.
It isn't the size of the tent that is the problem. The problem is that the GOP/Republicans have not stood for much the last several election cycles. All they give are the same old speeches on the same old issues: lower taxes, cut spending, reduce government, reduce regulations, yada yada yada. Then, if they do happen to get elected, they become an Open-checkbook George and trash those who helped get them elected.
The GOP/Republicans need some potential nominees with real substance instead of fluff.

Rubio....also needs to solidify his thoughts and positionsI agree with you. He got played by McCain and Shummer; he might have been the one who would have put rules to stop the invasion of the US before anything else on that issue. I remember distinctly that Schummer was speaking for Rubio before Rubio was speaking for himself about the committee.
All of these conservatives need to study US history from the Eisenhower presidency up to current events. They don't seem to have the feel for what our foeign policy should be, from an historical, global perspective. Sometimes I think Rubio has really good instincts and McCain and Schummer took him down on purpose because of that.....leave that FL option for Jeb Bush.
Jeb Bush, I could never support. Rubio? Yeah, probably.

History since WW2 is that a good President would be a general or a gov who has lead the SAG. The rest of them over the past 70 years....not so much.

Eisenhower warned us about the military-industrial complex, wasn't a gleeful war-monger, worried about the spread of communism, and led a nation transitioning from a war economy to greatness, confidence and pride.
There are negatives, sure. But I suspect in retrospect the good is pretty good, in terms of the arc of history.

Fluff is a problem for Rubio Working with the dems ch Schumer no less is a complete deal breaker
That he doesn’t know that closes the deal
Any one of them can count on the Romney non voters times two in my opinion not voting for them. Those are the people who know amnesty and any other stupid idea that W pushed through are up there with the damage bring done now
They also are not going to vote for someone who refuses to represent them. They can stay home and just watch Hillary do that
And Rubio et al are pretending the tea party broke up. And that they did solution of a fizzling idea
They should take a peek at the Lois Lerner deal
Duh duh. Just duh
