How about we all get paid what we’re worth.
The market says that if you can’t make what you’re worth, you go find another job.
It also says that if you’re paid more than you’re worth, the job will ask you to leave.
It all shakes out in the end. Either earn the raise, or be happy with your current pay. End of story.
Unfortunately no one teaches this any more, and rather than earning an honest buck we just sign up for “free !@#$”.
..Earn money?? It’s, Get money..now
Young fella (28) workin with me the other day said that, and I laughed and said it ain’t about earning anymore, it’s about gettin huh?? He laughed and remarked he had NEVER THOUGHT about it like that, and that a lot if his ‘boys’ say that all the time
I agree with you but that’s not how it works at many companies right now. I recently had my annual review which was excellent. I consistently exceed expectations. I was told I qualify for an annual raise but the company froze annual pay increases a couple of years ago. My second annual review with this company and that’s the second time I’ve been told that. Pay increases are and have been frozen across the board.
So to summarize....
Many people aren’t getting paid what they’re worth right now but need the job
If you can’t make what you’re worth there really aren’t many alternatives out there
Getting paid more than your worth does not equate to the job asking you to leave. There are plenty of examples of this in both the private and public sector.
I did earn my raise based on the goals and standards put forward. I could demand a raise, and get it, stating I’ll quit if I don’t get it but that opens up a whole other can of worms.
I was always taught that if you work hard and do a great job you will be rewarded. My reward consisted of having to cut my payroll, let one person go, and absorb more work at the same pay. Oh, and I don’t get free shit.
On a side note I am actively searching for a new job and will have finally finished school come summer. It’s been a rocky couple of years but we’ll keep on pushin ahead.
Gimme a break, I couldn't live on that.
SIN is a reproach to ANY nation.
No one teaches this; either...
Prospect: "How much does it pay?"
Employer: "I'll pay you what you're worth."
Prospect: "I can't live on that."
Thanks for posting this. I did a minor edit on it.
Fortunately, one of my senior year college professors told us basically what you posted. He also said to save 6 months of salary to be able to do your second step.
1. How about we all get paid what were worth.
2. The market says that if you cant make what youre worth, you go find another job.
3. It also says that if youre paid more than youre worth, the job will ask you to leave.
4. It all shakes out in the end. Either earn the raise, be happy with your current pay, or see #2 above. End of story.
