NEW YORK (AP) MSNBC is apologizing for a Cinco de Mayo segment that featured a staff member onscreen wearing a sombrero, shaking maracas and taking a swig from a bottle of tequila.

The Irish can take a joke.
Jesse was mistaken and using the Irish reputation in doing so.
The streets and the subway system in New York, built by laborers, Irish predominant, are in very good order after over 150 years.
You must visit, to get an idea of what you are talking about.
My own family had the Bricklaying contract for the Empire State Building. It was put up in 1033, during the Depression. In a very short time. Have an uncle who was an engineer on the Trade Center.
they put up the gargoyles on the Chrysler Bldg and the ornamental plastering at Radio City. The brownstone at the Natural History Museum.
The Irish were not known in those parts, where they had so much input, as doin shoddy work due to drinking. So, any jokes regarding that from another part of the country where, BTW, they had no predominance, would not be a joke, but a lie and a mean one.
SO, as I said, the Irish won’t take lying.
And St. Pul, by the way, was settled by Scandinavians and Germans.
The Irish would like for him to just stick to the truth, and they’ll take any jokes therein.
They don’t even celebrate it in Mexico.
They need to apologize for banning Speedy Gonzales from the airwaves!
I have read this. I have notified all of my to proceed to our survival shelter located somewhere in the upper southwest. The security outfit that we have hired to move on-notice stores of food, bottled water, medical supplies, firearms, large libraries of music, books, sporting equipment, and exercise equipment for the indoor gym has been notified by code work. Of course, we will not be taking along Fritos. We think this one stunt by an MSNBC employee will cause the downfall of American civilization. Oh yes. We are prepared to stay encapsulated for the next 100 years.
My very favorite Warner Brother character is Slow Poke Rodriguez, Speedy’s cousin.
Let us review the action.
A post is made about a tasteless “joke” on national TV about the drunken Mexicans. The Mexicans take umbrage but you scoff at their reaction saying the Irish can take a joke.
In my personal experience the Irish are as prickly as any other nationality, maybe more, so I test this theory by providing you with a PERFECTLY analogous example of a tasteless “joke” on national TV about the drunken Irish.
You prove my point by becoming all prickly.
I have nothing to say about the Irish in general. But one specific self identified Irishman can’t take a joke any better than the Mexicans.
I celebrate Leif Erikson Day by wearing my horned helmet and drinking Aquavit straight from the bottle.
Is that racist?
There are plenty of jokes about drinking Irish that are based on the truth that the Irish can take
The Irish in this country celebrate st Patrick’s day with everyone and include everyone and would never dream of demanding that anyone ESP school kids to not display the American flag on any day
And if you don’t think thee are many depictions of drinking Irish you are mistaken. And they are based in truth. But not putting crooked roads int some frozen place in Minnesota they’d never been to
So kleptomaniac going but you’re not going to win
Started out as party excuse early 90s
I am torn over the cinco de mayo celebration of the defeat of a NATO ally by our biggest drug supplier.
I think the Mexicans are making those same points about showing a guy in a sombrero staggering around drinking from a tequila bottle.
They didn’t know the first thing about finance.
Then there was another Depression. It was in the early thirties here and THAT was when the Empire State building was built.
The Irish can take a joke like that.
And what is wrong with that? I do not get the apology. I live in San Antonio. We celebrate Cinco de Mayo here more than they do in Mexico. And....Fiesta just ended.
MSNBC...Stinko Da Pinko
Well, they do but not like we do here.
It is the same joke as you take offense to.
Nope. It’s the same joke we don’t take offense to. Dressed up as Leprauchans and drinking.
The one we do take offense to is the one where our outstanding achievements are denigrated and lied about.
