Republican leaders could name the chair of a select committee tasked with investigating the 2012 Benghazi attacks as early as Monday, Fox News has learned.
A senior House source with direct knowledge of the development of the committee indicated that Rep. Trey Gowdy, R-S.C., is likely to be named chairman of the panel. Gowdy's name was floated heavily late last week. Other names mentioned for the job by Capitol Hill insiders include Rep. Pete Sessions, R-Texas; Rep. Mike Turner R-Ohio; Rep. John Mica R-Fla.; Jim Sensenbrenner, R-Wis.; and Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, R-Fla.

It’s got to be Gowdy. Please, no Sensenbrenner; he’ll just bollucks up the works.
FReep mail me if you want on, or off, this Wisconsin interest ping list.
If I were a potential nominee for the position, I would be interviewing candidates for a firing squad. I’d make each candidate prove his marksmanship.
I’m afraid at what the exchange was in order for us to get this select committee.
I’m afraid Bonehead will trade forming a committee for Amnesty, which he wants.
Gowdy probably pledged to support Bonehead’s Amnesty push if he could get a select committee to investigate Benghazi.
IF this is the case.. then I hope this committee helps put the right people in handcuffs.
I want to see frog marches.
Gotta be Gowdy.
RELEASE THE KRAKEN!!!!
If so, maybe it will be worthy of being posted on Drudge Report.
Why is there little to nothing about Benghazi lately on that site?
I’ve wondered the same thing.
If it is not Gowdy then it will accomplish nothing.
I agree. Gowdy’s the MAN!
I name Sara Palin... Mike Lee, or Ted Cruz!!!
If Boner does not name Trey Gowdy, we will know he is not serious.
Fox News reporting it’s Gowdy .
And the winner is....GOWDY!!!!!! Just heard on FOX
Oh goody....
For 6 years as a federal prosecutor, Trey prosecuted the full range of federal crimes including narcotics trafficking rings, bank robberies, child pornography cases, and the murder of a federal witness. He was awarded the Postal Inspectors Award for the successful prosecution of J. Mark Allen, one of Americas Most Wanted suspects. He also received the highest performance rating a federal prosecutor can receive two years in a row.
As 7th Circuit Solicitor, Trey led an office of 25 attorneys and 65 total employees. During his tenure, he started a Violence Against Women Task Force and a Worthless Check Program, enhanced and expanded Drug Court, and implemented a Drug Mother Protocol designed to assist expectant mothers break the cycle of addiction.
He has been recognized statewide for his commitment to victims rights and drunken driving enforcement and nationally for excellence in death penalty prosecutions.
What on earth would possibly give you thought that Gowdy would sell out as you so chichenheartedly assert?
