New Perspectives
Poorly understood and historically distorted events at Kent State in April 1970 turned millions against the war.
Ohio National Guardsmen killed four students and wounded nine without readily apparent reason. Kent State became another exemplar of how the U.S. government was conducting a uniquely illegal and immoral war in Vietnam and on the very streets of America. The background and context of radical political activities before and after those events may perhaps offer new perspectives.

Kent State was always a media-fueled Communist attack on America.
If the SDS were involved, then violence was a high probability. IIRC, Bill Ayers and that b!tch Bernadine Dohrn had several ties to it as well as founding the Weather Underground.
Further, if I also recall correctly, Ayers was present at a meeting of minds in which the execution of upwards of 20-30 million citizens (who would not conform to their ideology would have to be undertaken) was actually earnestly discussed.
As the article explains, Kent State faculty members participated in the incitement to riot, including a member of the Communist Party USA (CPUSA).
When Kent State went down, I was an undercover campus radical at one of DC’s ‘leading’ universities. Until then, radicalism wasn’t all that popular on campus. The shootings were the best recruiting tool the SDS ever had - people waiting in line to join so they could blow something up. OK that last part is a bit of a stretch. Only a bit.
There is a warning, here. The wrong person with a couple of firecrackers could make a nasty confrontation considerably worse.
That aside, for 50 years the media and Hollywierd and others have been working to destroy this country. I am ever reminded that McCarthy was right...

To increase the number of personnel available for the riot control missions, the DoD (Department of Defense) ordered all units to assign one or more of their personnel to “additional duty” regardless of their occupational specialty. In the Air Force and the Air Force Reserves, or Air National Guard it did not matter whether we were a radar technician, cook, clerk, aircraft mechanic, or a loadmaster; you were given specialized training by the Army and Army National Guard's Military Police Battalions to conduct riot control operations. The training and assignments included sniper work. As part of the briefings we were briefed on the activities and identities of the Weather Underground, the SDS, and there members.
In particular, we were informed the SDS/WUO were planning to incite a race riot that would bring the black community into the streets and against the police, state police, and the National Guard troops. Their objective was to prompt one or more leaders of the Black community to go into the front ranks against the police or National Guard troops, and then an SDS/WUO member was to pull a pistol or other firearm and shoot the Black leader and other Black rioters from behind and blame the police or National Guard for the shootings. We were given the mission to take overwatch positions as snipers prepared to selectively shoot the previously identified SDS/WUO member drawing the firearm to shoot. Fortunately, we never had to deploy on this mission, thanks to Larry Grathwohl and others.
The Communists used the same tactic successfully in Germany by having an East German STASI agent in the police do the shooting to incite a Leftist backlash.
Here we are today in the Ukraine with the former Soviets doing it on another wholesale scale. The restraint of most the Ukrainian authorities, excepting the Berkut, in the face of such deadly provocations is admirable.
And the travesty continued: it allowed Governor Gilligan to come into office. He backed a huge income tax increase and was voted out. His daughter caught the bug and, after trying to similarly ruin Kansas, Kathlenn Sebelius went on to do the same to the rest of the country..
The campus was wall to wall people... many who were not from the area...many of whom where not students or even affiliated with the University, at all.
All the lots a parking were full... cars with plates all over the country.
I know one of the rock throwers but he never told me why he started throwing them in the first place.
I assumed he was caught up in the moment & going along with the crowd.
Today’s military would’ve done much better....they would’ve found out the Leftists whipping up the crowds, then sent in snipers for head shots.
Governor Gilligan should have been put on a uncharted desert island along with his daughter.
Part of a national nightmare back then. Not sure the truth will ever be told.
Barack Obama is a living, ever-present reminder that Joe McCarthy was right. . . .

The people who used that same argument in 1936 to 1938 failed to confront Germany and end Hitler’s career before it could get off the ground and destroy more than 600,000 American lives and tens of millions of other lives.
