The first openly gay Episcopal bishop, who became a symbol for gay rights far beyond the church while deeply dividing the world's Anglicans, plans to divorce his husband.
Bishop Gene Robinson announced the end of his marriage to Mark Andrew in an email sent to the Diocese of New Hampshire, where he served for nine years before retiring in 2012.
Robinson would not disclose details about the end of their 25-year relationship but wrote Sunday in The Daily Beast he owed a debt to Andrew "for standing by me through the challenges of the last decade."

miserable excuse for a human
I am always amazed at the selfishness of people. They could NOT have talked themselves into thinking that THEIR little no-marriage union was going to change the world.
They KNEW that their no-marriage union would wreck havoc. But they didn't care.
The Episcopal Church will survive VERY WELL. It DOESN'T NEED "bishops" like him! Bishop Robinson and his male bride Mr. Andrew need the forgiveness of many for their foray into sin.
They OUGHT to defrock him! Does the Episcopal Church "defrock" priests? This is certainly a sin worthy of it!
Naaaaaaaahhhhhh.
I would not be in the least bit surprised - animal husbandry!
Hmmm. Hyping a how long relationship?
The extinctionists relationship lasted from 08 to 14. That is only SIX years.
“(whatever) in a private civil union in 2008”
“They OUGHT to defrock him! Does the Episcopal Church “defrock” priests? This is certainly a sin worthy of it!”
Unfortunately, the only priests who have been defrocked or punished in the past 20 years or so are those priests who have vehemently opposed the ordaining of practicing homosexuals and other heretical theological novelties. The Episcopal Church (TEC)has charged bishops and priests with violation of the church canons (law)and their vows of obedience because they would not go along with the agenda of the theological quislings in power. I’ve long said TEC now stand for “trashing everything Christian”.
I’ve no idea why Vicki Gene is rending asunder his so called union; perhaps he has had an epiphany and is repenting. One can hope and pray for his sake he is.
I hope he makes his peace with the Lord. God always hears us.
God does work in mysterious ways so who knows where Vicki Gene will end up.
I started going to DAILY Mass while living in Saudi Arabia...with my Muslim boss's 100% approval. He said that there is "always time for God" and that I could "go to pray whenever I wanted to." Go figure.
Yawn.
Who gets to keep the hamsters?
Go figure.
I can only figure that was/is the Almighty God’s grace at work for both of you.
What church was that?
“Who gets to keep the hamsters?”
Give me a minute. Ijust fell out of my chair.
“Yep. First he divorced his wife and dumped his kids. Now hes divorced his husband. Whats next, a billygoat?”
Hopefully a straitjacket.
So how’s that whole Gay Thing working’ out for ya, Gene?
The whole FE family swam the Tiber, adios. Enough is enough.
You are quite right about those two people. The presiding heretic has spent hundreds of thousands and perhaps into the millions of dollars suing traditional parishes who try to leave the denomination. She has brought charges against several bishops who’ve tried to remain orthodox and who’ve used church funds to defend themselves or their diocese. This woman’s theology is vacuous drivel. The head of EDS is exactly as you describe her.
The progressives have seized the levers of power in the Episcopal Church and are certainly not going to defrock fellow travelers and will only persecute those who disagree with their new ways of defining the Christian faith.
The problem began when they accepted homosexuals into the priesthood and then allowed them to marry someone of the same sex. That was their first mistake. The church brought this dilemma on themselves and I honestly don't care how they solve the problem. Chances are, they don't view it as a problem at all!
It is so odd. Anything but heterosexuality is a choice. Why would anyone CHOOSE that? It would mean no children, other than adopted ones or artificially inseminated ones.
Yes the church did bring it on itself. I guess the problem will continue to be a thorn in its side, unsolved.
SUCH a shame.
