A CHEERFUL HEART IS GOOD MEDICINE
Proverbs 17:22
A merry heart doeth good like a medicine: but a broken spirit drieth the bones.
Which came first the chicken or the egg? We may never know the answer to this question, but when it comes to living a fulfilled life, the joy precedes the good feelings. As a matter of fact, the joy is the antidote to the woes of life. Humor is great medicine. Humor helps us to see the big picture. It provides us with a new context by which to view our situation. It gives us a different vantage point which we can use to reevaluate life. Humor gives us reasons to feel good! My prayer today is that we find humor in all of life.

A Weekly Prayer for America
Help us, Lord, this week to be Thy own faithful family.
Help the Church Thy Truth to prove by acts of faith and hearts of love.
Help our nation truth to see from Christians hands that work for Thee.
The hands are ours, the strength is Thine,
for we are weak, but Thou Divine.
So guide us, Jesus, through each day,
for Thou the Truth, the Life, the Way. Amen.

Dear God: I ask that no Airman, Coast Guardsman, Marine, Sailor, Soldier, Reservist, National Guardsman, or Merchant Marine feel alone or forgotten.
O Israel, hope in the Lord; For with the Lord there is loving kindness, And with Him is abundant redemption. And He will redeem Israel From all his iniquities.

TAKE UP THE CROSS, AND FOLLOW ME
"I Vow To Thee My Country" Choir Of King's College, Cambridge (Click)
"I vow to thee, my country, all earthly things above, Entire and whole and perfect, the service of my love; The love that asks no question, the love that stands the test, That lays upon the altar the dearest and the best; The love that never falters, the love that pays the price, The love that makes undaunted the final sacrifice.
And there's another country, I've heard of long ago, Most dear to them that love her, most great to them that know; We may not count her armies, we may not see her King; Her fortress is a faithful heart, her pride is suffering; And soul by soul and silently her shining bounds increase, And her ways are ways of gentleness, and all her paths are peace."
"Arm yourselves, and be ye men of valour, and be in readiness for the conflict; For it is better for us to perish in battle than to look upon the outrage of our nation and our altars. As the Will of God is in Heaven, even so let it be."

Tears Of Gratitude
May 4, 2014
Read: 1 Corinthians 11:23-32
At a communion service my wife and I attended, the congregation was invited to come forward to receive the bread and cup from one of the pastors or elders. They told each one personally of Jesus sacrifice for him or her. It was an especially moving experience during what can often become just routine. After we returned to our seats, I watched as others slowly and quietly filed past. It was striking to see how many had tears in their eyes. For me, and for others I talked with later, they were tears of gratitude.
The reason for tears of gratitude is seen in the reason for the communion table itself. Paul, after instructing the church at Corinth about the meaning of the memorial supper, punctuated his comments with these powerful words: For as often as you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lords death till He comes (1 Cor. 11:26). With the elements of communion pointing directly to the cross and the sacrifice of Christ on our behalf, that service was about so much more than ritualit was about Christ. His love. His sacrifice. His cross. For us.
How inadequate words are to convey the extraordinary worth of Christ! Sometimes tears of gratitude speak what words cant fully express.
Were the whole realm of nature mine,
That were a present far too small;
Love so amazing, so divine,
Demands my soul, my life, my all. Watts
The love Christ showed for us on the cross is greater than words could ever express.
For centuries, the Jewish community of faith had called to memory Gods provision of their deliverance out of bondage in Egypt. This memorial was celebrated through the Passover meal (Ex. 12:1-28). A roasted lamb, unleavened bread, wine, bitter herbs, and other items helped them remember their salvation from slavery. In our reading today, we see how our Lord took that sacred feast and transformed it into a memorial of His own sacrificial death (see Luke 22:19).

I did indeed venture out today. I went to Lowe's and the grocery early in the day - after walking around both of those stores I was totally wiped out.
This afternoon, I went our with Daniel to Behnke's Nursery and bought our tomatoes, peppers and a few annuals. We planted a few of the peppers after dinner - will take care of the tomatoes tomorrow after Mass.

Good job....progress is always a good thing.
Did you and Mrs MacNessa go shopping with dueling walkers? Is her leg healing well? The boys becoming accomplished at laundry and appreciating the things Mom usually does?

I went grocery shopping Friday and the place was full of old folks doing the same thing. I had to wait in line behind 5 people.
I finally realized the reason. Social Security payments normally are made on the third but since that was on a Saturday, they went out on the second.
