When this happened last year the local politicians in New Orleans were wetting themselves worrying about riots as the Trayvon Martin case was a hot topic at the time. The home owner was arrested and charged with attempted second degree murder. To this day the home owner has not been indicted by a grand jury.
I thought this kid was still in the hospital on life support.

Obviously the result of behavioral changes brought on by his head injury.
Before that, he had been an aspiring rapper.

The legality of this shooting is open to question, as is whether there was an immediate danger that justified deadly force, but I could not vote to convict on any serious felony. I’m glad that the world has one less criminal harming the innocent, thanks to this shooting.

It was not immediately clear how police linked him to the crime. Could it be that he showed up at the hospital with a bullet in his head?

"Detectives, however, said that their investigation showed that Coulter, who was not armed, did not pose an "imminent threat" to Landry."
Nonsense. Attempted forced entry of a dwelling known to be occupied. At O'Dark hundred. Imminent threat defined. There's not a cop in that town that would have said to themselves, "Oh, maybe the shadowy figure standing before me is unarmed." And, held fire when a furtive movement was detected. I survived two such incidents in my life. Both times, the perps knew somebody was home and awake, as they tried to force their way in. Always a sign that the perp seeks and anticipates physical violence with an occupant. Armed or unarmed. Makes no difference. Somebody's going to get hurt or killed.

It’s not covered in THIS article, but in this other article...

it says the “kid” ...armed himself with the victims gun,....
This innocent little Trayvon wannabe is upping his game and it’s only a matter of time before he murders one or more people. He keeps getting the gentle, kid-glove treatment from prosecutors.
