Oregon Democratic Sen. Jeff Merkley is running neck-and-neck with Republican challenger Monica Wehby, according to a new Daily Caller/Vox Populi Polling survey of registered voters in the state.
Wehby, a Portland-based pediatric neurosurgeon, received the support of 40 percent of respondents, while an additional five percent say they are leaning towards supporting the first-time candidate. Merkley, who was elected to the Senate in 2008, garners the support of just 39 percent of respondents, with two percent saying they lean towards supporting him.
Fourteen percent of voters said they do not know whom they would support.
According to Vox Populis Brent Seaborn, the poll shows that the Senate race in Oregon is very much in play for Republicans.
The poll also indicates that a plurality of voters in the deep-blue state see Obamacare as a mostly failed venture. Forty-six percent of respondents said Obamacare and Cover Oregon, the states disastrously flawed health care exchange, were failures, while 17 percent said they were successes, and 37 percent said they were somewhere in between.

As for this primary, I think that Conger is a respectable candidate and certainly an honorable man and recognize that he’s worthy if he’s the nominee, but I see Dr. Wehby as the more formidable contender. The ‘Rat Party has filed an FEC complaint against her, proof that they’re afraid of her appeal. Faced with both Obamacare’s unpopularity and the phony “war on women” charge, who better than a female brain surgeon to be the nominee?
Me redistricting reform idea is that AUh2orepublican be apppointed DOJ Special Master at large and draws all the lines for everything.
Conger is the real conservative. I will not vote for Wehby.
If you would like more information about what's happening in Oregon, please FReepmail me. I lost my Oregon list when my computer crashed recently, so please send me your name by FReepmail if you were on the previous list.
Wehby = RINO
I humbly accept. : )
I am curious to know what you would do with the IL congressional lines.
BTW Oregon Primary Poll from Wenzel Strategies(R): Wehby 43%, Conger 23%
I just mailed my ballot for Jason Conger. He is the conservative and has the experience to beat the incumbent. He is endorsed by”right to life” and NRA. Monica is pro abortion and has zero political experience. She will lose in the general.
But Romney and the GOPe are backing her.
In IL, I’d draw three black districts and two Hispanic districts in Chicagoland, a liberal white distrct along the Lake from the Lakeshore through Evanston to eastern Lake County, and 12 GOP-leaning CDs.
2 Hispanic districts, that means bye bye for Lipinski and Quigley.
I’d still end up with Luis wouldn’t I. I’m in Humboldt Park
One Hispanic CD would be north of the Westside black ghetto IL-07, and the other one to the south (and include Cicero). The one to the north would include Humboldt Park (at least its more Hispanic precincts) and, being the more Puerto Rican and less Mexican of the two Hispanic CDs, presumably is where Gutierrez would run (but didn’t he announce that this would be his last term?).
I just got a phone call from Bruce Poliquin as he got my small donation in the mail this morning.
The guy is organized. Wish we could send campaigners. Wish we could send campaigners to NY21 also.
I hope we all vote for somebody in NOV.
The Church always votes ... nobody has ever authorized a boycott of any Oregon election. That is why they have a secret ballot, for difficult choices. (although Merkley is not difficult.)
Go Conger. Endorsed by NRA and Oregon Right to Life

I knew about the Right to Life. Good to see the NRA there too.
I didn’t hear that, I’ll believe it when it happens.
Never mind; I must have been thinking about when Gutierrez promised to retire back in 2007 and then changed his mind. As long as there remains a single illegal alien who hasn’t been amnestied, he’ll have an excuse to run again.
