Former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum said Monday hes not convinced the GOP cares about poor people as much as Democrats do.
People ask me, Do Republicans care as much about the poor as Democrats do? Santorum said at a New York meeting of conservatives. Im not sure we do. Im not sure we do. And the reason Im not sure we do, is because I dont hear us talking about them very often.
The remarks came during the Q-and-A portion of the event, where Santorum was promoting his new book, Blue Collar Conservatives. He was asked whether he supports the earned income tax credit, a wage subsidy for low-income Americans, which some conservatives proposed as an alternative to raising the minimum wage.

If Rick cares so much about poor people, he should dedicate the rest of his life to helping them... without government largesse.
Every day, one or two of them take themselves out of the running.
Former “Senate Loser”
Another example of a religious conservative who is an economic socialist.
Michael, please read beyond the headlines. Rick SUPPORTS The free market.
Oh man.
Toast with an image of Mitt burnt in it.. And then some.

Do Republicans care as much about the poor as Democrats do?

You believe he's right about this? And you concede the DNC-MSM meme that 'Democrats' actually care about the poor? And 'Republicans' don't, as much?
Rick might jump the fence and challenge Hillary.
Here they go again, R party leaders striving to lose more elections in the face of almost unavoidable victories. With a little more effort, these utterly imcompetent leaders could lose an election running unopposed.
And one “wonders” just why the GOP-e LOST in BOTH 2008 AND 2012. ShitHeads like Ricky are a good %age WHY!
Republicans want everyone to be as rich as their talent and work ethic will take them.
Democrats want to enable those who choose to do nothing to take from those who choose to do more than is necessary.
Republicans want those who choose to do more than is necessary (the makers) to keep as much of what they have earned as possible.
Democrats want to take what those people (the makers) have earned and give it to those who have chosen to do nothing (the takers).
Republicans want everyone to have an equal opportunity to achieve their dreams. Democrats want equality of results. But since it's impossible for everyone to be equally rich, Democrats in essence wish for every to be equally poor.
Everyone wants (both Republicans and Democrats) to take care of those who actually CAN'T take care of themselves (severally mentally or physically disabled). But those who actually CAN'T take care of themselves are only a small fraction of those the government is currently supporting by taking from those who have chosen to do more.
If all the above means Republicans care less about the poor, then by all means, yes I care less about the poor. Because I could care less about someone who CHOOSES to do nothing.
Oh, you are sooooooo right Sanitarium...we should spend TRILLIONS a year instead of BILLIONS on worthless giveaways that NEVER get auditd and waste hundreds of millions in bureaucratic stupidity.
GFY Ricky boy.
Nothing Rick Spectre says surprises me.
It takes being the furthest thing from a politician to make the correct statement.
Included under things that fit the description of “furthest thing from a politician”: Statesman.
LOL Mighty Christian of you to add multiple points to my comment.
OK Bob Dole.
The only legitimate Constitutional thing we've delegated to government and pay them to do is to defend our God-given lives and freedoms.
Stupid idiot
“Caring” isn’t turning people into dependency slaves
Just STHU
Which means that he isn't a religious conservative, religious conservatives make up the foundation of economic conservatism and limited government, in America.
