Oprah Winfrey, David Geffen and Larry Ellison will join together in a bid to buy the Los Angeles Clippers if the NBA's board of governors votes to force Donald Sterling to sell the team, Geffen told ESPN's Jeremy Schaap on Wednesday.
Geffen said he and Ellison would run the team, while Winfrey would be an investor.
"Oprah is not interested in running the team," Geffen told Schaap. "She thinks it would be a great thing for an important black American to own [another] franchise.
"The team deserves a better group of owners who want to win. Larry would sooner die than fail. I would sooner die than fail. Larry's a sportsman. We've talked about this for a long time. Between the three of us, we have a good shot."

Isn’t it interesting to see bigoted racism spawn a feeding frenzy by critics of racism to purchase the team. You might say they are going in for the kill…..thank the Lord we will get a good buy price because of the comments of this racist bigot. These people see racism as an opportunity for them to prosper even more than they have. Aren’t we the best people. It is the right thing to do. We well be heroes saving the team,…..uh, never mind the billions of dollars it will bring to us over the next decade or two.
He should trade them to a league in China!

It’s racist for Caucasians to own NBA franchises. All-Caucasian media booths are racist. Therefore, it’s racist for NBA audiences to be mostly Caucasian. All Caucasians should stop attending NBA games — so that their seats become available to minorities. Fight racism — stop attending NBA games & stop watching them on TV.
Release all players eligible and basically stop all play. If I were him and 81 years old I would transfer a few bucks (he is worth 1.9 billion) to a hidden island get away and the burn the team to the ground out of spite or spend a billion suing everyone involved and tie up courts for years. It would be worth throwing away the rest just to watch people whine.

I knew either Oprah or Magic would buy the team..I could see the writing on the wall. I am no fan of Sterling, he is a racist idiot..but I hope he fights to the death to keep his team and says “If I go down I am taking this team down with me” its HIS team..there is no law against being an idiot, if that were the case MSNBC wouldn’t exist..and if you think it starts here with Sterling people are in for a rude awakening, already reading how some want NBA owners who are for traditional marriage to be thrown out of the NBA too..if that is the case, I’m officially done..Been a Laker fan my entire life but if this is the way the NBA is headed I am done watching them, will always be loyal to my team but I’m done with the NBA

That would be interesting for them to try, but I think you may be missing the real intent of this potential Clipper ownership group and that is that a key member of ownership group is gay.
Now the NBA will have both gay players on the court and in the locker room, but a gay in the ownership box.
i agree in principle, he should not lose his property. but he also voluntarily subscribed to the NBA’s bylaws, and we do not know what they say about taking an owner’s team
